A potential role of p75NTR in the regulation of circadian rhythm and incremental growth lines during tooth development

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
Objective: Tooth morphogenesis and the formation of hard tissues have been reported to be closely related to circadian rhythms. This study investigates the spatiotemporal expression and relationship of p75NTR with core clock genes, mineralization-related

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Form Factors for Lambda_b -> Lambda Transitions in SCET

open access: yes, 2012
We present a systematic discussion of Lambda_b -> Lambda transition form factors in the framework of soft-collinear effective theory (SCET). The universal soft form factor, which enters the symmetry relations in the limit of large recoil energy, is ...

Effects of Applied Heat and Stress on Structural Changes of DLC Film

open access: yesTribology Online, 2012
Diamond-like carbon (DLC) is considered to be predominantly amorphous, whereby small clusters of microcrystalline structures with sp3 and sp2 bonding, and an amorphous matrix, coexist. DLC film has some extraordinary properties such as high hardness, low

A cellular system to study responses to a collision between the transcription complex and a protein‐bound nick in the DNA template

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present the cellular transcription‐coupled Flp‐nick system allowing the introduction of a Top1‐mimicking cleavage complex (Flpcc) at a Flp recognition target site within a controllable LacZ gene. LacZ transcription leads to the collision of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) with Flpcc, and this causes RNAPII stalling, ubiquitination, and degradation.

Signature change induces compactification

open access: yes, 1995
It is shown -- using a FRW model with ${\bf S}^3 \times {\bf S}^6$ as spatial sections and a positive cosmological constant -- that classical signature change implies a new compactification mechanism.

X-ray variability of GRS 1915+105 during the low-hard state observed with the Indian X-ray astronomy experiment (IXAE) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The galactic superluminal transient X-ray source GRS 1915+105 was observed with the pointed proportional counters (PPCs) onboard the Indian satellite IRS-P3 during 1996 July 23-27.

Strength degradation of sandstone and granodiorite under uniaxial cyclic loading

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2018
Change in mechanical properties of rocks under static loading has been widely studied and documented. However, the response of rocks to cyclic loads is still a much-debated topic.

Regulating urban densification: what factors should be used?

open access: yesBuildings & Cities, 2021
Highlights Urban densification is increasingly accepted as a necessity and is important for no-net land take. Densification occurs in many places, especially fast-growing cities with a combination of demographic change, economic pressure and large ...

B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...
