Superelastic Hard Carbon Nanofiber Aerogels

Advanced Materials, 2019
AbstractSuperelastic carbon aerogels have been widely explored by graphitic carbons and soft carbons. These soft aerogels usually have delicate microstructures with good fatigue resistance but ultralow strength. Hard carbon aerogels show great advantages in mechanical strength and structural stability due to the sp3‐C‐induced turbostratic “house‐of ...

Hard Carbon Coatings: The Way Forward

MRS Bulletin, 1997
Since the first reports by Aisenberg and Chabot in 1971 indicating the possibility of producing hard amorphous (so-called diamondlike) carbon (DLC) films, many experimental and theoretical research results have been published outlining the properties and film growth mechanisms of these films deposited by a variety of techniques.

Raman spectra of hard carbon films and hard carbon films containing secondary elements

Carbon, 1991
Raman spectroscopy has been used to investigate the structure and bonding in a number of carbon films prepared by plasma physical vapour deposition and chemical vapour deposition. Several secondary elements have been introduced into the structure of the coatings to observe their influence on the coating-substrate assembly.

Hardness of carbon materials

Solid Fuel Chemistry, 2009
Data on the hardness of carbon materials obtained via conventional technologies are summarized. The data are compared with the structure characteristics and the properties of the carbon materials. Correlations of the structural characteristics and the properties of the carbon materials with their hardness have been revealed.

Proton Bombardment of Hard Carbon

Fullerenes, Nanotubes and Carbon Nanostructures, 2006
Abstract Proton irradiation effects on magnetic properties of hard carbon were investigated by magnetic force microscopy. Two different, oxygen‐free and oxygen‐rich, graphite‐like hard carbon targets were prepared by high pressure‐high temperature treatment of C60 fullerene. Formation of magnetic domains was observed only in the oxygen‐free targets.

Transport Properties of Hard Carbons

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2023
Sodium-ion batteries (SIB) have been heavily researched, as a potential replacement for Lithium ion batteries (LIB) as their components are more readily obtainable, lower cost and they have similar working principles to LIB. Hard Carbon (HC) is the current state-of-the-art anode for SIB material due to its relatively low cost, overall performance ...
