Anomalous Grain Growth in a Polycrystalline Monolayer of Colloidal Hard Spheres
Understanding grain growth is key for controlling the microstructure and the mechanical properties of most polycrystalline materials, including metals, alloys, and ceramics.

Glass transition of hard spheres in high dimensions
We have investigated analytically and numerically the liquid-glass transition of hard spheres for dimensions $d\to \infty $ in the framework of mode-coupling theory.

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Fluid-fluid phase separation in hard spheres with a bimodal size distribution
The effect of polydispersity on the phase behaviour of hard spheres is examined using a moment projection method. It is found that the Boublik-Mansoori-Carnahan-Starling-Leland equation of state shows a spinodal instability for a bimodal distribution if ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Ordered and disordered stealthy hyperuniform point patterns across spatial dimensions
In previous work [Phys. Rev. X 5, 021020 (2015)2160-330810.1103/PhysRevX.5.021020] it was shown that stealthy hyperuniform systems can be regarded as hard spheres in Fourier space in the sense that the structure factor is exactly zero in a spherical ...

Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Researching Gangs: How to Reach Hard-to-Reach Populations and Negotiate Tricky Issues in the Field
Researching hard-to-reach populations which operate in spheres of illegality and violence is impacted by issues of rivalry, territorial inaccessibility, and distrust, as well as ethical and moral concerns. In this article I discuss the difficulties faced

Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.
