The Historical Baseline of Hard Tick Records in Spain (1985–2024)

open access: goldPathogens
Ticks are important vectors of pathogens, producing diseases in animals and humans. The planning of information campaigns or prevention programs is heavily based on the knowledge of highly detailed data on tick distribution. This study reports unpublished data on the distribution of more than 30,000 tick specimens, collected by active surveys in the ...

A Dynamic Spike Sorter for Multiscale Nanoelectrode Array Recordings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work introduces a dynamic spike sorting pipeline that isolates diverse electrical signals from nanoelectrode arrays. Using biophysical simulations to calibrate signal processing, the approach reveals relationships between action potentials and membrane fluctuations, advancing the understanding of neuronal network excitability.

Viscoelasticity, Lubricity, and Wear Prevention of Cross‐Linked Mucin Gels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Physiologically, biolubrication by mucus reduces friction and protects tissues from tribological stress, with mucins playing a key role. This study compares mucin‐based gels with distinct crosslinking architectures to explore their effect on the lubrication and wear prevention abilities of reconstituted mucin gels.

Consequences and Mechanisms of Noise‐Induced Cochlear Synaptopathy and Hidden Hearing Loss, With Focuses on Signal Perception in Noise and Temporal Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Noise‐induced synaptopathy (NIS) is largely reversible due to self‐repair. NIS and noise‐induced hidden hearing loss are two concepts with similarities and differences. The major hearing deficits in NIHHL are temporal processing disorders. The translation of animal data in NIS studies to humans is hindered by many factors.
