Surface integrity of hard-turned M50 steel

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2002
The purpose of this paper is to examine how the surface integrity of M50 steels is affected by hard turning. Tests were conducted on a lathe using different tools and depth of cut. The surface was evaluated in terms of residual stress, surface roughness and microstructure analysis.

EXERIMENTAL ESTIMATION OF HARD TURNING CONTACT CHARACTERISTICS

Bulletin of the National technical university "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" Series: Techniques in a machine industry, 2023
When processing hardened steel with a PcBN cutting tool in conditions close to orthogonal cutting, the cutting forces are determined depending on the amount of feed and cutting speed. The value of contact stresses, friction coefficient and the length of contact of the chip with the front surface of the cutter for a cutting speed of 100 m/min were ...

Some Aspects of Hard Turning Process

1999
There is an increasing trend to both tighter machining tolerances and higher performance materials. Hardfacing alloys find a widespread application on tools and machine components which are subjected to wear. These alloys are often deposited by welding.
