INVESTIGATIONS ON STRUCTURAL INFLUENCE ON FRICTION FACTOR OF MULTI-COMPONENT VACUUM- PLASMA COATING

open access: yesНаука и техника, 2006
It is revealed that under relatively low values of the accelerating potential Ubasic = 0-100 B) metal - silicon - nitrogen coating formation occurs when chemical reactions of nitride formation are absent An increase of the Ubasic value up to -(150-250) В

Shaping Matter with Acoustic Waves: From Particles to Functional Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Acoustic‐directed assembly is reviewed as a materials‐oriented strategy for organizing particles, polymers, metals, and biological systems into functional structures. The review distinguishes reversible manipulation from permanent structure formation through medium fixation, particle fixation, and in situ material generation, highlighting routes toward

A unified material model to predict ratcheting response in head-hardened rail steel due to non-uniform hardness distributions

open access: yes, 2017
The non-uniform hardness distribution, metallurgy and ratchetting behaviour of head-hardened Australian rail steel (AS60 HH) are studied. In a bid to extrapolate material properties across the rail head continuum, a unified material model of the rail ...

Atomic Layer Deposition Processes: Versatile Platforms for Engineering ZnO‐Chitosan Biointerfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Vapour phase metalation (VPM), multiplied pulsed vapour phase infiltration (MPI), and O2 plasma‑enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) tailor Zn–chitosan (Zn‑CS) films. PEALD improves wettability and biocompatibility. MPI enhances semiconductor behavior. Antiseptic selectivity: VPM → E. coli; MPI → H. pylori.

Abrasive wear behaviour of hardened high strength boron steel

open access: yes, 2014
Abrasive wear in industrial applications such as mining, materials handling and agricultural machinery constitutes a large part of the total wear. Hardened high strength boron steels are known for their good wear resistance and mechanical properties, but

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.
