Additive Manufacturing of Multimetallic Materials to Achieve Multifunctionality

open access: yesMetalMat, EarlyView.
Leveraging multimaterial directed energy deposition (DED), this work showcases four case studies of metallic multifunctional materials (MFMs). The significant potential of DED to achieve multifunctionalities in metallic materials is demonstrated, providing enlightenment to a wide range of engineering applications unseen in conventional metallic ...

Designing High‐Entropy Alloys With Low Stacking Fault Energy Through Interpretable Machine Learning

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed an interpretable machine learning (ML) ensemble framework and, by integrating the VEC criterion with the proposed machine learning scoring parameter in the alloy composition screening process, successfully designed multiple CoCrFeNiMn‐based HEAs with TWIP/TRIP effects and without the BCC phase.

A Peridynamic Framework for Modeling Progressive Failure in Porous Sandstone Indentation

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A state‐based peridynamic model is proposed to simulate the failure mechanisms in porous rocks, using Bentheim sandstone as a specific example. Experimental observations reveal a transition from brittle to ductile failure under increasing triaxial compression. This behavior is attributed to pore compaction. The peridynamic model is enhanced to

Environmental Risk Assessment and Anti‐Corrosion Efficacy of Safe‐by‐Design Nitrite‐Based Nanomaterials for Maritime Applications

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
The environmental behavior and impact of anti‐corrosion nanoadditives, ZnAl‐NO2 and MgAl‐NO2 layered double hydroxides (LDH), are assessed under marine conditions. These nanomaterials show instability in water but exhibit no or low toxicity to most tested marine species.
