Effect of Combined Grinding–Burnishing Process on Surface Integrity, Tribological, and Corrosion Performance of Laser‐Clad Stellite 21 Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 25, Issue 8, April 2023., 2023
A combined grinding–burnishing surface modification process is applied to the laser‐clad Stellite 21 alloys. Ball burnishing (BB) improves surface topography by lowering surface roughness and porosity. Increased hardness induced by BB is responsible for higher wear and impact resistance. Higher BB force augments surface integrity improvement.

Microstructure Characterization of Nickel Matrix Composite Reinforced with Tungsten Carbide Particles and Produced by Laser Cladding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 24, Issue 11, November 2022., 2022
Detailed microstructure characterization of a laser‐clad metal matrix composite consisting of hard tungsten carbide particles embedded in a comparatively soft nickel alloy matrix is provided. Thermally induced dissolution of the particles is investigated.

Developing an Empirical Relationship to Predict the Wear Characteristics of Ni‐Based Hardfaced Deposits on Nuclear Grade 316LN Austenitic Stainless Steel

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Using the nickel‐based Colmonoy 5 hardfacing alloy, components made of austenitic stainless steel (ASS) used in nuclear power plants can be hardfaced. Hardfacing is the process of applying complex and wear‐resistant materials to substrates that require abrasion resistance.

Hardfacing of Copper

open access: yesBiuletyn Instytutu Spawalnictwa, 2020
The article discusses the primary issues of the hardfacing of copper elements exposed to intense abrasive wear, gas-abrasive wear at high temperature and in contact with liquid metal. In addition, the article presents test results concerning the surfacing of copper grade M1 performed using a self-shielded flux-cored wire providing weld deposit Fe14 and

Study of the wear resistance of Hypereutectic Fe–Cr–C Hardfacing Alloy reinforced with carbide particles

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2022
The microstructures and wear resistance of hypereutectic Fe–Cr–C hardfacing alloys reinforced with carbide particles was studied. The results showed that when the sizes of the M _7 C _3 carbides were small, the wear resistance of the hardfacing alloy was

Wear Characteristic of Stellite 6 Alloy Hardfacing Layer by Plasma Arc Surfacing Processes. [PDF]

open access: yesScanning, 2017
The microstructure and wear resistance of Stellite 6 alloy hardfacing layer at two different temperatures (room temperature and 300°C) were investigated by plasma arc surfacing processes on Q235 Steel. Tribological test was conducted to characterize the wear property.
