In Situ Analysis of Opal in Gale Crater, Mars

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 123, Issue 8, Page 1955-1972, August 2018., 2018
Abstract Silica enrichments resulting in up to ~90 wt% SiO2 have been observed by the Curiosity rover's instruments in Gale crater, Mars, within the Murray and Stimson formations. Samples acquired by the rover drill revealed a significant abundance of an X‐ray amorphous silica phase.

Effects of Maceral Compositions of Coal on Methane Adsorption Heat

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
The role of maceral compositions (vitrinite and inertinite) in the adsorption characteristics of coal has not been fully understood in terms of energy. In this study, using a microcalorimeter, the adsorption heat of maceral compositions for methane is directly measured for five groups of Chinese coal samples with different coal ranks.

Pengaruh dan Korelasi Analisis Proksimat (MAD, VM, Ash dan FC) Terhadap Nilai Hardgrove Grindability Index (HGI) Batubara di PT. Bukit Asam, Tbk. Effect and Correlation of Proximate Analysis (MAD, VM, Ash and FC) on the Hardgrove Grindability Index (HGI)

Relationship between Particle Size Distribution of Low‐Rank Pulverized Coal and Power Plant Performance

open access: yesJournal of Combustion, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
The impact of particle size distribution (PSD) of pulverized, low rank high volatile content Alaska coal on combustion related power plant performance was studied in a series of field scale tests. Performance was gauged through efficiency (ratio of megawatt generated to energy consumed as coal), emissions (SO2, NOx, CO), and carbon content of ash (fly ...

Toward Fossil‐Free Steelmaking: Overview of Physiochemical Properties of Hydrochar and Its Application in Blast Furnace and Electric Arc Furnace Processes

open access: yescScience, Volume 1, Issue 1, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The steel industry is among one of the largest CO2 emitters in the world. To meet climate targets, replacing fossil‐based carbon with renewable biocarbon in metallurgical processes, particularly in blast furnaces (BFs) and electric arc furnaces (EAFs), has emerged as a viable short‐ to mid‐term solution.
