Surface Durability of Developed Cr-Mo-Si Steel under Rolling-Sliding Contact

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2008
To develop case-carburized gears with high loading capacity, the surface durability of a developed Cr-Mo-Si steel (with 1 mass% Si added in the chemical composition) was studied.

Toward Design Principles for Biomolecular Condensates for Metabolic Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates are membrane‐less compartments found through‐out nature which can serve as reaction crucibles for biochemical processes. This review explores the design strategies underlying how condensates can be used in biotechnology to enhance multistep enzyme cascades including enhancement by mass action and substrate channeling, and ...

Clique in 3-track interval graphs is APX-hard [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Butman, Hermelin, Lewenstein, and Rawitz proved that Clique in t-interval graphs is NP-hard for t >= 3. We strengthen this result to show that Clique in 3-track interval graphs is APX-hard.

The Regulation of Trace Metal Elements in Cancer Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The induction of ferroptosis inhibits tumor growth, enhances anticancer efficacy, and overcomes drug resistance. Recent evidence shows nonferrous metal elements play a role in ferroptosis. This review focuses on how trace metals regulate ferroptosis processes like iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense.

Rigid and shaky hard link diagrams [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this study of the Reidemeister moves within the classical knot theory, we focus on hard diagrams of knots and links, categorizing them as either rigid or shaky based on their adaptability to certain moves. We establish that every link possesses a diagram that is a rigid hard diagram and we provide an upper limit for the number of crossings in such ...

NP-hardness of hypercube 2-segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
The hypercube 2-segmentation problem is a certain biclustering problem that was previously claimed to be NP-hard, but for which there does not appear to be a publicly available proof of NP-hardness. This manuscript provides such a proof.
