Today, most personal computers are equipped with floppy disk drives, but as needs for information storage on computers grow, ‘hard’ disks having larger capacities become more and more popular. The world population of hard disk units is increasing rapidly.

Proceedings of the 9th annual conference companion on Genetic and evolutionary computation, 2004
In this tutorial, fundamental concepts of evolutionary circuit design and evolvable hardware will be introduced. In particular, we will deal with evolutionary algorithms and reconfigurable devices utilized for hardware evolution as well as with their interactions in typical applications of evolvable hardware.

Proceedings of the 38th Design Automation Conference (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37232), 2001
We introduce the first hardware metering scheme that enables reli-able low overhead proofs for the number of manufactured parts. The key idea is to make each design slightly different. Therefore, if two identical hardware designs or a design that is not reported by the foundry are detected, the design house has proof of miscon-duct.

Survey on evolvable hardware and embryonic hardware
2013 IEEE 11th International Conference on Electronic Measurement & Instruments, 2013Bio-inspired hardware is a circuit with self-organizing, self-healing and adaptive ability referring the concepts in biology. This paper provides a new method to improve the reliability of electronic equipment. Evolvable hardware and embryonic hardware are the two research branches of bio-inspired hardware.

Queue machines: hardware compilation in hardware
Proceedings. 10th Annual IEEE Symposium on Field-Programmable Custom Computing Machines, 2003In this paper we hypothesize that reconfigurable computing is not more widely used because of the logistical difficulties caused by the close coupling of applications and hardware platforms. As an alternative, we propose computing machines that use a single, serial instruction representation for the entire reconfigurable computing application.

Hardware C - A Language for Hardware Design [PDF]
Abstract : High-level synthesis is the transformation from a behavioral level specification of hardware to a register transfer level description, which may be mapped to a VLSI implementation. The success of high-level synthesis systems is heavily dependent on how effectively the behavioral language captures the ideas of the designer in a simple and ...

Lest those interested in exploring the field not understand the nuts and bolts of the system, no book on digital technology is complete without some background on the available hardware and software. The field is changing rapidly, and specific examples may be already obsolete at the time this book goes to press.

Chapter 6 begins with a brief review of the ARM processor and the specifications of the Mini2440, the recommended target board for this section of the book. We also review some other inexpensive ARM-based single board computers to show why the Mini2440 was selected.
