Parasitoid wasps, Aphidius ervi, are more attracted to honeydew from H. defensa‐infected aphids; though larger honeydew amounts may slightly deter searching.

Predator cues from jumping spiders modulate herbivore behaviour and reduce plant damage
Ecological Entomology, EarlyView.Jumping spider cues increase immobility and delay first reproduction in the aphid Myzus persicae. Spider cues reduce leaf consumption by chewing herbivores, indicating reduced herbivore pressure on plants. Jumping spider cues may mediate indirect effects across trophic levels by altering herbivore behaviour and plant–herbivore interactions.

Environmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 6, November‐December 2026.We sequenced airborne eDNA to target plant and arthropod communities in woodlands with an invasive forest pest present and woodlands with no known infestations. We did not find differences in plant communities; however, we found site differences in the arthropod communities between the infested and non‐infested sites.
