Harmonic singing and the Harmonic Choir
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1987In harmonic singing, the singer emphasizes a selected upper harmonic of the vocal pulse. In this way, he can sing two notes at once, the fundamental and the selected harmonic. Members of the Harmonic Choir have developed techniques for the following effects: (1) The fundamental is constant while the selected harmonic varies; (2) the fundamental varies ...

Harmonic maps and harmonic morphisms
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 1999A harmonic morphism is a map between Riemannian manifolds which preserves Laplace's equation. We compare the properties of harmonic morphisms with those of the better known harmonic maps, seeing that they behave in some ways “dual” to the latter. In particular, we give representation theorems for harmonic morphisms in low dimensions which suggest that ...

WHILE the possibility of vibrating a thin cord regularly in a flat plane from a tuning fork has long been known as the Melde cord, from its discoverer ; and the development of large cigar-shaped loops on a thick stretched cord, corresponding to the fundamental and harmonic frequencies, by variable-speed electric-motor drive adjusted to the natural ...

As an application of the Schrodinger equation, we now calculate the states of a particle in an oscillator potential. From classical mechanics we know that such a potential is of greater importance, because many complicated potentials can be approximated in the vicinity of their equilibrium points by a harmonic oscillator.

This chapter is the closest in these notes to what is usually called “Quantum Mechanics”. The present version is considerably shorter than the original French. It thus becomes more obvious that its main topic is not really elementary quantum mechanics, but rather elementary Fock space, and the quantum analogue of finite dimensional Gaussian random ...
