The Harmonic Balance method for periodic flows is presented in this work. The Harmonic Balance method deploys Fourier series expansion based on the assumption that variables are periodic and can be accurately represented by a mean value and first n harmonics.

Krylov Subspace Methods for Harmonic Balanced Finite Element Methods

A Conjugate Gradient solver is developed for harmonic balanced finite element systems. This approach avoids the construction of real equivalent systems which suffer from worse spectral conditions for Krylov subspace solvers. The application to a transformer with ferromagnetic material shows the better convergence of the Conjugate Gradient solver.

Small-signal analysis using harmonic balance methods

A small-signal analysis method is described for piecewise-linear circuits that have periodic operating trajectories. The approach is general and accurate up through one-half the switching frequency. The method is oriented toward use in general computer simulation tools, and is demonstrated by comparisons with measurements from several circuits. >

The Harmonic Balance method for incompressible, turbulent periodic flows is presented in this paper. Using the Fourier series as a decomposition method for primitive variables, the transformation from a single transient problem to a number of coupled steady state snapshots is achieved.

Harmonic Balance Method for Unsteady Periodic Flows

Harmonic Balance method for unsteady periodic flows is presented in this study. Assumption of a time periodic flow allows us to formulate 2n + 1 coupled steady state problems. By solving 2n + 1 steady state problems, we obtain a transient flow field.
