Almost Periodic Solutions by the Harmonic Balance Method
Acta Mathematicae Applicatae Sinica, English Series, 2022The so-called harmonic balance method is often used in looking for periodic solutions of ordinary differential equations by trigonometric polynomials. In the paper under review, there is shown that the harmonic balance method can be applied to prove the existence of almost periodic solutions of ordinary differential equations.

The harmonic balance method is a version of Galerkin’s weighted residual method. The harmonic balance is to seek an approximate periodic solution of a differential-algebraic equation by a truncated Fourier series. Substituting a guessed periodic solution into the differential equation leads to a residual term.

Convergence improvements of the harmonic balance method
1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002Harmonic balance based circuit simulators, which allow an efficient evaluation of the steady state solution in the frequency domain, still present convergence failures in nonlinear circuit analysis. Such problems are investigated, giving emphasis both to the numerical aspects and to the theoretical bases of the method.
