Predicting chaos in memristive oscillator via harmonic balance method
Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2012This paper studies the possible chaotic behaviors in a memristive oscillator with cubic nonlinearities via harmonic balance method which is also called the method of describing function. This method was proposed to detect chaos in classical Chua's circuit.

Adaptive Harmonic Balance Methods, A Comparison
Harmonic balance method (HBM) is one of the most popular and powerful methods, which is used to obtain response of nonlinear vibratory systems in frequency domain. The main idea of the method is to express the response of the system in Fourier series and converting the nonlinear differential equations of motion into a set of nonlinear algebraic ...Onur Sert, Ender Cigeroglu

A filter-based technique for the harmonic balance method
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Fundamental Theory and Applications, 1996The Harmonic Balance Method (HBM) allows an efficient determination of the steady-state solution of mildly non-linear circuits; however, in the presence of strong nonlinearities, it often fails to converge. The reasons of such behavior are investigated in this paper. In order to improve convergence, a modified HEM technique is presented, based upon the

Harmonic balance method for time–delay chaotic systems design
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2011Abstract Aim of this paper is to introduce a procedure based on the harmonic balance method for the design of time–delay chaotic systems, starting from a simple feedback scheme consisting of a nonlinearity, a first-order integrator and a delay block. Through this approach, the conditions under which the considered scheme can show chaotic dynamics are ...

Analysis of Oscillator Injection Locking by Harmonic Balance Method
2008 Design, Automation and Test in Europe, 2008A new approach to analyze injection locking mode of oscillators under small external excitation is proposed. The proposed approach exploits existence conditions of the solution of HB linear system with degenerate matrix. The method allows one to obtain the locking range for an arbitrary oscillator circuit with an arbitrary periodic injection waveform ...

Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis Using Harmonic Balance Method
Engineering Modelling, Analysis and SimulationThere is a high demand for nonlinear structural dynamics in implicit Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Although such methods are available, there are several obstacles to use them daily. One is their extreme and unpredictable computation time, which makes it often impossible to get results in time.

Harmonic Balance method for turbomachinery applications
2016The Harmonic Balance method for periodic flows is presented in this work. The Harmonic Balance method deploys Fourier series expansion based on the assumption that variables are periodic and can be accurately represented by a mean value and first n harmonics.

Krylov Subspace Methods for Harmonic Balanced Finite Element Methods
2001A Conjugate Gradient solver is developed for harmonic balanced finite element systems. This approach avoids the construction of real equivalent systems which suffer from worse spectral conditions for Krylov subspace solvers. The application to a transformer with ferromagnetic material shows the better convergence of the Conjugate Gradient solver.

Small-signal analysis using harmonic balance methods
PESC '91 Record 22nd Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2002A small-signal analysis method is described for piecewise-linear circuits that have periodic operating trajectories. The approach is general and accurate up through one-half the switching frequency. The method is oriented toward use in general computer simulation tools, and is demonstrated by comparisons with measurements from several circuits. >
