The Harmonic Balance Method in OpenFOAM

2017
The Harmonic Balance method for incompressible, turbulent periodic flows is presented in this paper. Using the Fourier series as a decomposition method for primitive variables, the transformation from a single transient problem to a number of coupled steady state snapshots is achieved.

Harmonic Balance Method for Unsteady Periodic Flows

2015
Harmonic Balance method for unsteady periodic flows is presented in this study. Assumption of a time periodic flow allows us to formulate 2n + 1 coupled steady state problems. By solving 2n + 1 steady state problems, we obtain a transient flow field.

Harmonic balance method for incompressible turbomachinery applications

2016
Harmonic Balance method for non–linear, temporally–periodic turbulent incompressible flows is presented in this work. Assumption of time periodic flow allows us to formulate 2n+1 coupled steady state problems using Fourier series expansion. Solving 2n+1 equations yields quasi–steady state flow fields with transient features which depend on the number ...
