Even harmonics in alternating-current circuits

Proceedings of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1909
In the usual presentation and consideration of wave-forms in alternating-current circuits we are so used to the mathematical expressions which omit the second, fourth, sixth, etc. harmonics and so generally assume that these even harmonics can be neglected at the outset, that a short consideration of usual and special conditions, giving rise to even ...

Second-harmonic alternating current polarography

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1966
The technique of second-harmonic a.c. polarography is discussed from the viewpoints of theoretical basis, experimental requirements, and scope of application. The theoretical relation is given for the second-harmonic current-component of a straightforward electrochemical reaction under conditions of a.c, polarography.

Current International Harmonization Efforts

2009
Efforts towards international cooperation or harmonization can occur at varying levels – at the level of technical and scientific requirements, of dossier format and content, or of assessment and review practices. Three contrasting models for regional cooperation in drug regulation harmonization, the corporate, populist, and cooperative, are described ...

Harmonic reduction in thyristor converters by harmonic current injection

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1976
The paper describes analytical and experimental results for a new method of current harmonic reduction in thyristor converters. The principle of the method is to modify the current waveforms on the d.c. windings of the converter transformer by injecting harmonic currents at a particular frequency.

Eliminating harmonic neutral current problems

2008 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition, 2008
Powering multiple computer loads connected phase-neutral in a 3-phase wye distribution system places exceptional thermal stresses on the switchgear, transformers and wiring of that system. The presence of harmonic currents can lead to equipment failures and, in the worst case, fires.

Harmonic oscillator driven by a quantum current

Physical Review Letters, 1989
We show that under certain circumstances a simple quantum harmonic oscillator driven by a quantum current evolves to unique pure states even if started as a mixed state. In various limits, these states exhibit nonclassical properties such as sub-Poissonian statistics, or more interestingly resemble macroscopic superpositions.

Time harmonic eddy currents in non‐linear media

COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 1998
One way to deal with non‐linearity in the case of time harmonic excitation of the electric and magnetic fields in ferromagnetic media is to introduce an effective material to model the ferromagnetic region. This fictitious material is constant throughout a period but inhomogeneous and it takes into account the non‐linear relationship between the field ...

A modified harmonic current vector method for harmonic contribution determination

IEEE PES Power Systems Conference and Exposition, 2004., 2005
This paper deals with the determination of customer contributions to harmonic distortion at the point of connection to the utility network. The approach proposed in this paper is derived from the common power factor practice where a load should be fully compensated at the fundamental frequency and therefore seen as resistive from the network.

Line current harmonic reduction in adjustable-speed induction motor drives by harmonic current injection

ISIE '97 Proceeding of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2002
Modern adjustable-speed, induction motor drives are responsible for contaminating electric networks with undesirable harmonics. Most of the speed controllers developed for induction motors employ a rectifier-inverter arrangement. In this arrangement, the alternating current drawn by the rectifier contains many undesirable harmonics. These harmonics may
