Adaptive control of harmonic drives

2004 43rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37601), 2004
In this paper, an adaptive control algorithm is designed for controlling the harmonic drives used to drive robot manipulators. Direct torque measurement is available by using the flexspline mounted strain-gauges. The torque error is added to the required velocity.

A process for driving the harmonization of models

Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Product Focused Software, 2010
At present, there are several factors that may influence an organization in needing to work with more than one reference model. The following can be highlighted: (i) market niches with specific models, (ii) improvement of practices from legacy process models, (iii) business positioning, (iv) leveraged or merger corporate (v) systematic search of the ...

Modeling a harmonic drive gear transmission

[1993] Proceedings IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
In order to capture the dynamic behavior of harmonic drives, dynamic models must include accurate representations of transmission friction, compliance, and kinematic error. Experimental observations are used to guide the development of a model to describe harmonic-drive operation.

Optimal design of harmonic drive servo

2013 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, 2013
Design of modern mechatronic systems can be an overwhelming task. The underlying difficulty lies in that several different engineering domains are combined in one product, creating integration issues. Commonly used design methodologies are based on optimizing the different domains separately; hence creating a sub optimized final system.

Magnetic Non-Contact Harmonic Drive

Volume 1: Advances in Aerodynamics, 2013
The MAGDRIVE project, granted by the Space program of the EU-FP7, is developing a gear able to produce reduction ratios from 1 to several hundreds by means of magnetic teeth. The teeth, unlike the conventional gears, do not touch one to other. This makes that this gear does not need any kind of lubrication.
