Cotunneling rate on harmonic drive and triangle drive

Proceedings of 20th Biennial Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements, 2002
In a single electron pump operated by harmonic drive and triangle drive, the cotunneling rate is calculated based the adiabatic and non-adiabatic tunneling model. The result shows that the cotunneling rate operated by the harmonic drive is larger than by the triangle drive in the case of adiabatic tunneling (i.e.

Dynamics and Control of Instrumented Harmonic Drives

Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1995
Since torque in harmonic drives is transmitted by a pure couple, harmonic drives do not generate radial forces and therefore can be instrumented with torque sensors without interference from radial forces. The installation of torque sensors on the stationary component of harmonic drives (the Flexipline cup in this research work) produce backdrivability

Adaptive Control of Harmonic Drives

Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 2006
Aimed at achieving ultrahigh control performance for high-end applications of harmonic drives, an adaptive control algorithm using additional sensing, namely, the joint and motor positions and the joint torque, and their practically available time derivatives, is proposed.

The Mechanical Efficiency of Harmonic Drives: A Simplified Model

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2020
Abstract Harmonic drives are widely used devices in robotic and space applications. As for any device transmitting motion, its mechanical efficiency is one of the main concerns for the designer. In this paper, it is proposed a new model to estimate this significant feature.

Harmonic analysis of slip-power recovery drives

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1992
A method of evaluating harmonic currents and voltages associated with slip power recovery drives is presented. The rectifier commutation overlap and DC link current ripple are included in the analysis by using a hybrid between the traditional d-q and a-b-c induction motor models. The harmonic components are determined from closed-form expressions which

Harmonic approximation of velocity oscillations in electrical drives

2016 IEEE Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2016
The accuracy of an electrical drive moving at constant velocity significantly depends on the performance of the applied velocity estimation algorithm. In this paper, this dependence is investigated for estimation algorithms, which use digital filters and quantized encoder measurements. Assuming that the velocity controller, the estimation algorithm and

A torque sensing technique for robots with harmonic drives

IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation, 1993
The authors propose a joint torque sensing technique making use of the existing structural elasticity of robots. The technique provides joint torque sensing without reducing the stiffness of the robot or changing the mechanical structure of the joints. The elasticity of the flexsplines of the harmonic drives is utilized to measure the joint torque. The
