Twin echo-enabled harmonic generation for enhanced coherent bunching at short wavelengths

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams
Harmonic up-conversion schemes represent the most successful approach in externally seeded free-electron lasers (FELs) for obtaining radiation with laserlike properties at short wavelengths.

Two-photon spectra of quantum emitters

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We apply our recently developed theory of frequency-filtered and time-resolved N -photon correlations (del Valle et al 2012 Phys. Rev. Lett. 109 183601) to study the two-photon spectra of a variety of systems of increasing complexity: single-mode ...

Harmonic generation by atoms in circularly polarized two-color laser fields with coplanar polarizations and commensurate frequencies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The generation of harmonics by atoms or ions in a two-color, coplanar field configuration with commensurate frequencies is investigated through both, an analytical calculation based on the Lewenstein model and the numerical ab initio solution of the time-

Local Thermal Conductivity Patterning in Rotating Lattice Crystals of Anisotropic Sb2S3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microscale control of thermal conductivity in Sb2S3 is demonstrated via laser‐induced rotating lattice crystals. Thermal conductivity imaging reveals marked thermal transport anisotropy, with the c axis featuring amorphous‐like transport, whereas in‐plane directions (a, b) exhibit 3.5x and 1.7x larger thermal conductivity.

Impact of Short Circuit Ratio on Harmonic Distortion in Offshore Wind Farm Integration

open access: yesEnergies
Offshore wind energy is rapidly expanding as a critical resource for global carbon neutrality, with 10.8 GW of new capacity added in 2023, raising the worldwide total to 75.2 GW.

High-harmonic generation from artificially stacked 2D crystals

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2023
We report a coherent layer-by-layer build-up of high-order harmonic generation (HHG) in artificially stacked transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) crystals in their various stacking configurations.

Foreground separation using a flexible maximum-entropy algorithm: an application to COBE data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A flexible maximum-entropy component separation algorithm is presented that accommodates anisotropic noise, incomplete sky-coverage and uncertainties in the spectral parameters of foregrounds.

Tuning the Electronic Structure and Spin State of Fe─N─C Catalysts Using an Axial Oxygen Ligand and Fe Clusters for High‐Efficiency Rechargeable Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A FeN4─O/Clu@NC‐0.1Ac catalyst containing atomically‐dispersed FeN4─O sites (medium‐spin Fe2+) and Fe clusters delivered a half‐wave potential of 0.89 V for ORR and an overpotential of 330 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for OER in 0.1 m KOH. When the catalyst was used in a rechargeable Zn–air battery, a power density of 284.5 mW cm−2 was achieved with excellent ...

Low-Cost Real-Time Gas Monitoring Using a Laser Plasma Induced by a Third Harmonic Q-Switched Nd-YAG Laser [PDF]

open access: yesITB Journal of Engineering Science, 2005
A gas plasma induced by a third harmonic Nd-YAG laser with relatively low pulsed energy (about 10 mJ) has favorable characteristics for gas analysis due to its low background characteristics, nevertheless a high power fundamental Nd-YAG laser (100-200 mJ)

The magnetic SW Sextantis star RX J1643.7+3402 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present time-resolved spectroscopy and circular spectropolarimetry of the SW Sex star RX J1643.7+3402. We find significant polarisation levels exhibiting a variability at a period of 19.38 +- 0.39 min.
