ABSTRACTA new measure was recently developed in the context of survival analysis that can be interpreted as a weighted arithmetic mean of the hazards with the survival function as the weight. However, when the average hazard is desired, it is more appropriate to use the harmonic mean rather than the arithmetic mean.

On a generalization of u-means

In this paper we present an extension of Bauer's work about u-means. We consider a kind of composition of an admissible function u(x) (described by Bauer) and of a compatible function ϕ(x). This construction allows us to define (u,ϕ)-means.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.
