Solution of the quantum harmonic oscillator plus a delta-function potential at the origin: the oddness of its even-parity solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We derive the energy levels associated with the even-parity wavefunctions of the harmonic oscillator with an additional delta-function potential at the origin.

Topological Berry Antenna on a Silicon Chip for Terahertz Wireless Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
The on‐chip topological Berry antenna for 6G to Xth‐generation wireless communication is designed via integrating various Berry curvatures for an enhanced antenna aperture and radiation gain. This THz antenna has demonstrated a maximum gain of 17 dBi and chip‐to‐chip wireless communications at 20 Gbps over a distance of 15 cm.

The Quantum Harmonic Otto Cycle [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2016
The quantum Otto cycle serves as a bridge between the macroscopic world of heat engines and the quantum regime of thermal devices composed from a single element.

Nanomaterial‐Based Optical Biosensors for SARS‐CoV‐2 Detection: A Retrospective of the Pandemic

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
This review discusses nanomaterial‐based optical biosensors developed for or adapted to the detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2). It concludes by providing a perspective on how lessons learned during the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic may be applied for future research on nanomaterial‐based ...

Network Desynchronization with Sine Waves: from Synchrony to Asynchrony by Periodic Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Exogenous alternating current fields are explored and interact with cerebral cortex slow waves in vitro and in silico. Varying frequency and amplitude of sine waves result in distinct network dynamics, from phase‐locking and entrainment to desynchronization. These responses occupy specific regions within the parameter space.

Carbon Dioxide Capture and Functionalization from a Molecular Ti(III) Oxo Anion

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
In their communication, Mindiola and coworkers demonstrate how a reduced Ti complex can reversibly bind CO2 to produce organic and inorganic carbonates. They access this chemistry through a unique TiIII oxo anion that can be generated both chemically and electrochemically.

Exact Solutions of the Mass-Dependent Klein-Gordon Equation with the Vector Quark-Antiquark Interaction and Harmonic Oscillator Potential

open access: yes, 2013
Using the asymptotic iteration and wave function ansatz method, we present exact solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation for the quark-antiquark interaction and harmonic oscillator potential in the case of the position-dependent mass.

Water, Collagen, and Lipid Content in the Human Skin and Muscles Assessed with Near‐Infrared Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy and Multi‐Spectral Optoacoustic Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Authors present a novel approach combining multispectral optoacoustic tomography and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy for noninvasive assessment of body composition, including water, lipid, and collagen in skin and muscles. Its high molecular and spatial specificity offers improved diagnostic potential for conditions like obesity and sarcopenia ...

Isotope Engineering of Tetraphenylethylene: Aggregate‐Dependent Enhancement of Luminescence Efficiency

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
In loosely packed nanoaggregates, increased deuteration enhances photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQY) and extends the fluorescence lifetimes of tetraphenylethylene (TPE) by reducing internal conversion rates. Conversely, in tightly packed crystalline states, deuteration leads to decreased PLQY and shortened lifetimes, attributable to the Duschinsky ...

Hierarchical Control for Virtual Oscillator Based Grid-Connected and Islanded Microgrids

open access: yesIEEE transactions on power electronics, 2020
Virtual oscillator control (VOC) is a nonlinear time domain controller that achieves significantly faster primary control response in islanded microgrids, compared to droop or virtual synchronous machine (VSM) control.
