Harmonic resonant filters for power electronics

The European Physical Journal Applied Physics, 2007
The object of this work is to report a passive filter structure dedicated for power applications. The structure is based on a series combination of elementary notch filters resonating at harmonic frequencies of a base frequency (switching frequency of a converter). A calculation of values of the components used for a given performance is presented.

Probabilistic Harmonic Resonance Assessment Considering Power System Uncertainties

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2018
The presence of power system uncertainties results in variations of the harmonic resonance behaviors. There is, therefore, a need to perform the probabilistic assessment in harmonic resonance study.

Near resonant third harmonic generation

Optics Communications, 1981
Abstract Third harmonic generation has been investigated theoretically in the vicinity of a two-photon resonance. Optimum achievable conversion efficiencies are given for a fixed column density as well as for an optimized column density for input intensities ranging from 10 6 –10 10 W/cm 2 .

Harmonic Generation in Mie-Resonant GaAs Nanowires

2019 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2019
High-refractive-index nanoparticles that support Mie resonances are emerging as alternatives to plasmonic nanostructures [1] as nonlinear nanophotonic devices with low losses and increased functionalities [2]. Second- and third-harmonic generation (SHG, THG) have been so far investigated in isolated and arrayed Si and GaAs resonant nanoparticles with ...

BC Hydro harmonic resonance experience

2000 Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting (Cat. No.00CH37134), 2002
In BC Hydro (Canada), fault recorders and system monitors have provided evidence of an increasing level of harmonics and revealed some cases of power system resonance. Also, there have been an increasing number of protective alarms, tripping of overloaded filters and unexpected high levels of harmonic currents in shunt capacitors, cables and lines ...

Comprehensive Assessment and Mitigation of Harmonic Resonance in Smart Distribution Grid with Solar Photovoltaic

International Journal of Renewable Energy Research, 2017
This paper investigates the potential resonance phenomenon between the solar photovoltaic (PV) and the distribution system components. The output of solar PV inverter is connected to the LC or LCL filters to alleviate the harmonics.

Harmonic and Nonlinear Resonances

2015
A physical system can be constituted by a single particle or a collection of particles. When a system exhibits a to-and-fro motion it is called an oscillator. A familiar example of an oscillator is a wall-clock pendulum. The oscillation of an oscillator can be periodic, quasiperiodic or even chaotic (which is a bounded nonperiodic motion of a ...

Harmonic analysis of resonant converters

[1989] Proceedings. The Twenty-First Southeastern Symposium on System Theory, 2003
A systematic method for the harmonic analysis of resonant DC-to-DC converters is presented. This method provides a steady-state analysis of the harmonic content of the voltages and currents. The solution procedure is outlined, and results are given in numerical and graphical form.

Unified Harmonic Resonance

2005
This publication summarizes a series of experiments that reverse-engineer Nikola Tesla’s theoretical wireless-energy grid using acoustic analysis. By translating Tesla’s resonant 3-6-9 structure into controlled audio frequencies, the study demonstrates measurable harmonic coherence, phase stability, and geometric symmetry identical to Tesla’s predicted
