Modeling of loads dependent on harmonic voltages

Electric Power Systems Research, 2017
Abstract Electrical system models are important to allow the accomplishment of several studies aiming at reducing losses, and improving power quality, among others. In the current context, carrying out harmonic analysis becomes necessary due to the increasing insertion of nonlinear loads in the system.

Prediction of Harmonic Voltages in Distribution Systems

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1981
The aim of this paper is two-fold. First, it develops workable models for specific devices which are known to inject harmonics into power distribution systems, namely ac-dc converters. Second, these models are then combined with distribution system elements, and the resulting network is solved to yield harmonic voltages.

Harmonic considerations on low voltage systems

[Proceedings] IEEE 1991 Annual Textile, Fiber and Film Industry Technical Conference, 2002
Guidelines are developed for applying capacitors and harmonic-producing loads on low-voltage systems. The subject is approached from a systems point of view for low voltage applications, emphasizing the system interaction effects and the means that can be used to minimize this interaction.

A new approach to voltage and harmonic compensation

Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering 2001. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8555), 2002
This paper presents a novel compensation scheme based on two active filters to improve power quality in distribution networks. The scheme provides voltage compensation at the load for source voltage sags, and swell, as well as minimizing the impact of the load harmonics on the distribution network.

Harmonic voltage measurements using CVTs

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2005
A method for harmonic measurements in EHV systems is proposed that is based on the measurement of currents in capacitor voltage transformers (CVT) and values of capacitor elements of CVTs. This is the basis of a new technique, which uses current sensors installed within CVTs.
