Harnessing DNA intercalation

Trends in Biotechnology, 2007
Numerous small molecules are known to bind to DNA through base pair intercalation. Fluorescent dyes commonly used for nucleic acid staining, such as ethidium, are familiar examples. Biological and physical studies of DNA intercalation have historically been motivated by mutation and drug discovery research.

HARNESS

Proceedings of the 8th International Workshop on Virtualization Technologies in Distributed Computing, 2015
Today's cloud platforms are missing out on the revolution in new hardware and network technologies for realising vastly richer computation, communication, and storage solutions. Technologies such as FPGAs and GPGPUs, programmable network routers, and solid-state disks bring new degrees of freedom to resource allocation and optimisation.

Harnessing undomesticated life

Nature Microbiology, 2019
Only a tiny fraction of bacterial species can be cultured and engineered in the laboratory, limiting our ability to deploy bacteria in harsh environments or use them to produce important compounds. Recent work has opened this frontier by developing new methods to characterize and engineer diverse, undomesticated bacterial species.

Pavlik Harness Pathology

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics B, 1993
Several complications following Pavlik harness splintage for congenital dislocated hips have been described. Two cases are reported where prolonged Pavlik splintage without concentric hip reduction caused posterior acetabular deficiency. Open reductions were required in both cases to correct deformity.
