Analysis of the ship target detection in high-resolution SAR images based on information theory and Harris corner detection

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2018
In order to make up the shortcomings of some existing ship target detection algorithms for high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, a ship target detection algorithm based on information theory and Harris corner detection for SAR images is ...

Feasibility Study for Application of Digitized Henize Mt. Wilson Michigan Southern Sky Hα$$ \boldsymbol{\alpha} $$ Survey Low‐Dispersive Spectral Plates for Searches for Anomalous and Highly Redshifted Objects

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The goal of this study is to confirm the feasibility of the use of digitized low dispersive MtWilson Michigan Southern Sky Hα$$ \alpha $$ survey astronomical photographic plates for modern astrophysical research. The detection of highly redshifted objects, such as early galaxies and quasars, is fundamental to understanding the universe's ...

Asset Redeployability and Biodiversity Risk

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examine how asset redeployability influences a firm's exposure to biodiversity risk. Our empirical analysis provides robust evidence that firms possessing greater levels of redeployable assets exhibit significantly lower biodiversity risk.

The Corner Detection of Image based on Harris Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Intelligent Systems Research, 2015
Image matching is a key technology to be solved in the fields of digital image processing and computer vision.Matching based on feature points is most widely used now.How to locate the right feature points is a vital issue.Only accurate feature points can lead right matching results. The corner is one of the important features of images.

Optimized Risk Assessment in Forensic Practice: A Comparison of Machine Learning and Manual Scoring Approaches

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences &the Law, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As correctional jurisdictions and risk instrument developers look to optimize scoring for specific population needs, an open question remains ‐ which method is optimal. Popular scoring methods range from manual simple scoring approaches (e.g., Burgess) to more complex machine learning algorithms (e.g., random forests).

Applying the Rules of Evidence to Expert Testimony About Risk

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences &the Law, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Expert opinion about dangerousness or risk is common at sentencing, criminal commitment proceedings and some types of pretrial detention hearings. This article argues that such evidence must be (1) “material” (logically relevant, empirically generalizable, and epistemologically germane), (2) “probative” (a measure of accuracy, which is ...

Estimating Epipolar Geometry With The Use of a Camera Mounted Orientation Sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Context: Image processing and computer vision are rapidly becoming more and more commonplace, and the amount of information about a scene, such as 3D geometry, that can be obtained from an image, or multiple images of the scene is steadily increasing due

Regenerative block empirical likelihood for Markov chains

open access: yes, 2011
Empirical likelihood is a powerful semi-parametric method increasingly investigated in the literature. However, most authors essentially focus on an i.i.d. setting.

Literature Review of Harris Hawk Optimization Algorithm

open access: yesINTERANTIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT, 2022
The Harris Hawks Optimizer is a revolutionary population-based, nature-inspired optimization methodology proposed in this paper (HHO). The cooperative behaviour and pursuit manner of Harris' hawks in nature, known as surprise pounce, is the fundamental inspiration for HHO.

Rockburst prediction based on data preprocessing and hyperband‐RNN‐DNN

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A data preprocessing workflow is proposed to address challenges in rockburst data analysis. Coupled algorithms preprocess the data set, and hyperband optimization is used to enhance RNN performance. Results show that preprocessing improves accuracy, while dense layers enhance model stability and prediction performance.
