Tolerance to weed harrowing in spring barley genotypes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Controlling weeds in spring cereals grown under organic conditions is mostly done by post emergence weed harrowing, where spring tines of the weed harrow control weeds by uprooting and/or covering small weeds plants with soil.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Predicting spring barley yield from variety-specific yield potential, disease resistance and straw length, and from environment-specific disease loads and weed pressure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
For low-input crop production, well-characterised varieties increase the possibilities of managing diseases and weeds. This analysis aims at developing a framework for analyzing grain yield using external varietal information about disease resistance ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Persisting effects of seed bed preparation and early grazing on plant communities in grassland restoration

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2023
Semi-natural mountain grasslands are species-rich and provide a wide range of ecosystem services, such as biomass production for livestock grazing and carbon sequestration.

Tolerance of four spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) varieties to weed harrowing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We investigated the tolerance to weed harrowing of four spring barley varieties and examined the possible interactions between varietal weed suppressive ability and two nutrient levels.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Optimization of Fuel Consumption for Tractor-tilled Land Area During Harrowing Operation Using Full Factorial Experimental Design

open access: yesCovenant Journal of Engineering Technology, 2023
This study's aim is to improve the tractor harrowing operation's fuel consumption efficiency to cut operating costs and boost agricultural output. The field trial was conducted at Rivers Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (RIART) Farm ...

Effect of the Intensity of Weed Harrowing with Spike-Tooth Harrow in Barley-Pea Mixture on Yield and Mycobiota of Harvested Grains

open access: yesAgronomy, 2019
Harrowing is one of the most popular mechanical methods to control weeds. Nevertheless, the relationship between the effect of different harrowing intensities using spike-tooth harrow in barley-pea intercrop on the yield and mycoflora of grains has not ...

Einsatz des Striegels zur Regulierung von Vicia hirsuta in Winterweizen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Seed production of hairy tare was reduced by harrowing. Harrowing can be performed until ear emergence without severe damage of winter wheat. Efficacy of late and repeated harrowing was increased if combined with early harrowing (BBCH 32-33). The removal
