Optical measurements of phase steps in segmented mirrors - fundamental precision limits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Phase steps are an important type of wavefront aberrations generated by large telescopes with segmented mirrors. In a closed-loop correction cycle these phase steps have to be measured with the highest possible precision using natural reference stars ...

HARTMANN'S PROCEDURE REVISITED [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Journal Armed Forces India, 2001
Between July 1991 and June 1999 out of 176 patients undergoing colonic surgery (elective and emergency), Hartmann's procedure was performed in 63. There were 39 males and 24 females. Mean age was 43 years (range 12 to 81). To assess the utility of Hartmann's procedure the documents of all these 63 patients were retrospectively analysed.

Efficacy and Safety of Laparoscopic Hartmann Colostomy Reversal [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Coloproctology, 2018
Purpose Hartmann operation is widely recognized as a useful procedure, especially in emergencies involving the rectosigmoid colon. One of the surgeon’s foremost concerns after Hartmann operation is future colostomy reversal, as colostomy reversal after a

Numerical Simulation of MHD Natural Convection and Entropy Generation in Semicircular Cavity Based on LBM

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
To study the natural convection and entropy generation of a semicircular cavity containing a heat source under the magnetic field, based on the single-phase lattice Boltzmann method, a closed cavity model with a heat source in the upper semicircular ...

Effect of magnetic field on the steady nanofluid flow past obstacle

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла, 2021
The fluid flow and heat transfer of a nanofluid past a circular cylinder in a rectangular duct under a strong transverse magnetic field is studied numerically using a quasitwo-dimensional model.

An Overview of Transience Bounds in Max-Plus Algebra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We survey and discuss upper bounds on the length of the transient phase of max-plus linear systems and sequences of max-plus matrix powers. In particular, we explain how to extend a result by Nachtigall to yield a new approach for proving such bounds and

Tolerability and Effects of a 3-in-1 Dimethicone-Containing Wet Wipe Versus Cleansing with Water and Soap on Skin Hydration, Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL), and Skin Roughness: A Clinical Dermatological Study

open access: yesCosmetics
Background: Maintaining skin integrity is essential for individuals with dry, sensitive, or compromised skin. This study was conducted to evaluate the skin tolerability and effects of a 3-in-1 pre-moistened wet wipe containing 3% dimethicone on ...

Effects of Residence Time, Auto-Fertility and Pollinator Dependence on Reproductive Output and Spread of Alien and Native Asteraceae

open access: yesPlants, 2019
Alien plants benefit from auto-fertility to spread over areas where the lack of co-evolved mutualists would otherwise limit invasion success. However, the widespread generalists among mutualists and their large geographical ranges allow alien plants to ...

A geostrophic-like model for large Hartmann number flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A flow of electrically conducting fluid in the presence of a steady magnetic field has a tendency to become quasi two-dimensional, i.e. uniform in the direction of the magnetic field, except in thin so-called Hartmann boundary layers.

Hartmann colostomy with ligasure

open access: yesBratislava Medical Journal, 2013
While LigaSure is commonly used for blood vessel closure, our aim was to research the effectiveness of using the latter tool for the purpose of closing intestines in rats.Twenty Wistar albino rats were divided into two groups per 10 each. In Group 1, the sigmoid colon was cut from its middle and its distal was closed with 4/0 silk.
