Blockchain and Digital Technologies in the Telecommunications Industry

open access: yesThunderbird International Business Review, Volume 68, Issue 2, Page 139-163, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines how fourth industrial revolution (4IR) technologies, specifically blockchain and digital twin technologies, can be utilized to address the energy supply challenge and enhance the management of distributed telecom infrastructure assets in a research context.

Sensemaking of Process Data from Evaluation Studies of Educational Games: An Application of Cross‐Classified Item Response Theory Modeling

open access: yesJournal of Educational Measurement, Volume 63, Issue 1, Spring 2026.
Abstract Process information collected from educational games can illuminate how students approach interactive tasks, complementing assessment outcomes routinely examined in evaluation studies. However, the two sources of information are historically analyzed and interpreted separately, and diagnostic process information is often underused.

The American Black Bear (Ursus americanus) as an Apex Predator: Investigating the Ecological Role of the World's Most Abundant Large Carnivore

open access: yesMammal Review, Volume 56, Issue 1, March 2026.
Black bears as apex predators. American black bears can (1) produce top‐down effects on ungulates equal to or exceeding those of typical apex predators and (2) modify the spatiotemporal behaviour of other carnivores, including pumas and coyotes. We argue that the term ‘apex predator’ is highly context dependent and not a species‐wide status.

Nitrogen Isotope Fractionation During Nitrate and Ammonium Uptake in Maize: Hydroponic Evidence and Implications for Ecological Investigations

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 1793-1804, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Understanding nitrogen (N) isotopic fractionation during plant uptake is critical for interpreting δ15N variations in terrestrial ecosystems. We investigated isotopic discrimination during ammonium (NH4+) or nitrate (NO3−) uptake in maize (Zea mays) grown hydroponically under controlled conditions with 0.2 and 2 mM to represent high and low ...

Long Unrest (2007–2025) at Laguna del Maule: Linking Strain Field and Seismicity From GNSS and Seismic Data

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract The Laguna del Maule volcanic field in Chile has been uplifting at exceptional rates since 2007, offering a unique opportunity to examine the interplay between crustal deformation and magma dynamics. To understand this relationship, we integrate GNSS with local seismic observations from 2013 to 2024 to model the reservoir strain field ...
