Hausdorff Coalgebras

open access: yesApplied Categorical Structures, 2020
As composites of constant, (co)product, identity, and powerset functors, Kripke polynomial functors form a relevant class of $\mathsf{Set}$-functors in the theory of coalgebras. The main goal of this paper is to expand the theory of limits in categories of coalgebras of Kripke polynomial functors to the context of quantale-enriched categories.

GAN‐LSTM‐3D: An efficient method for lung tumour 3D reconstruction enhanced by attention‐based LSTM

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Three‐dimensional (3D) image reconstruction of tumours can visualise their structures with precision and high resolution. In this article, GAN‐LSTM‐3D method is proposed for 3D reconstruction of lung cancer tumours from 2D CT images. Our method consists of three phases: lung segmentation, tumour segmentation, and tumour 3D reconstruction. Lung

A Mixed-Valence Tetra-Nuclear Nickel Dithiolene Complex: Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and the Lability of Its Nickel Sulfur Bonds

open access: yesInorganics, 2020
In this study, by employing a common synthetic protocol, an unusual and unexpected tetra-nuclear nickel dithiolene complex was obtained. The synthesis of the [Ni4(ecpdt)6]2− dianion (ecpdt = (Z)-3-ethoxy-3-oxo-1-phenylprop-1-ene-1,2-bis-thiolate) with ...

Hausdorff vs Gromov-Hausdorff distances

open access: yes, 2023
Let $M$ be a closed Riemannian manifold and let $X\subseteq M$. If the sample $X$ is sufficiently dense relative to the curvature of $M$, then the Gromov-Hausdorff distance between $X$ and $M$ is bounded from below by half their Hausdorff distance, namely $d_{GH}(X,M) \ge \frac{1}{2} d_H(X,M)$.

Structural Basis for (2R,3R)-Taxifolin Binding and Reaction Products to the Bacterial Chalcone Isomerase of Eubacterium ramulus

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
The bacterial chalcone isomerase (CHI) from Eubacterium ramulus catalyses the first step in a flavanone-degradation pathway by a reverse Michael addition.

Multi-Oxidant Environment as a Suicidal Inhibitor of Myeloperoxidase

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2023
Tissue inflammation drives the infiltration of innate immune cells that generate reactive species to kill bacteria and recruit adaptive immune cells. Neutrophil activation fosters the release of myeloperoxidase (MPO) enzyme, a heme-containing protein ...

Topological diagonalizations and Hausdorff dimension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The Hausdorff dimension of a product XxY can be strictly greater than that of Y, even when the Hausdorff dimension of X is zero. But when X is countable, the Hausdorff dimensions of Y and XxY are the same.

Pre-Hausdorff and Hausdorff proximity spaces

open access: yesFilomat, 2017
In this paper, an explicit characterization of the separation properties for T0, T1, PreT2 (pre-Hausdorff) and T2 (Hausdorff) is given in the topological category of proximity spaces. Moreover, specific relationships that arise among the various Ti,i = 0,1,2 and PreT2 structures are examined in this category.

The Wire Is Not the Territory: Understanding Representational Drift in Olfaction With Dynamical Systems Theory

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Representational drift is a phenomenon of increasing interest in the cognitive and neural sciences. While investigations are ongoing for other sensory cortices, recent research has demonstrated the pervasiveness in which it occurs in the piriform cortex for olfaction.

Abduction and Deduction in Dynamical Cognitive Science

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract This paper reviews the recent history of a subset of research in dynamical cognitive science, in particular that subset that allies itself with the sciences of complexity and casts cognitive systems as interaction dominant, noncomputational, and nonmodular. I look at this history in the light of C.S.
