The illusory correlation between geometrical similarity and physician satisfaction in heart auto‐segmentation revealed by a physician‐blind test

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Background Auto‐segmentation tools are essential in adaptive radiation therapy (ART). While evaluation typically relies on geometric metrics like Dice similarity coefficient (DSC), high scores do not always translate to clinical acceptability.

Quantitative assessment of CBCT image quality metrics and their translation to clinical Art workflow performance in breast cancer patients

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Background Online adaptive radiotherapy (ART) relies on cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging for daily treatment adaptation, but CBCT's physical limitations can compromise contour delineation and dose calculation accuracy. The relationship between image quality metrics and clinical ART workflow accuracy remains unclear.

Cross‐anatomical evaluation of a deep‐learning auto‐contouring system: qualitative, geometric, and dosimetric validation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Background Accurate and consistent delineation of target and normal structures is essential for safe and effective radiotherapy. Compared with manual or atlas‐based methods, deep learning‐based auto‐contouring has demonstrated improved efficiency and reduced interobserver variability. However, its performance can vary across anatomical regions

Jeffreys' prior is the Hausdorff measure for the Hellinger and Kullback-Leibler distances [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
On a family F := P# j # 2 IR k of probability measures on a measure space( ; A) we consider the Hellinger and Kullback-Leibler distances. We show that under suitable regularity conditions Jeffreys' prior is proportional to the k-dimensional ...

Decoding Choroid Plexus Pathology in Alzheimer's Disease: A Longitudinal Radiomics Approach for Prodromal Identification and Risk Stratification

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
A machine learning model utilizing choroid plexus (CP) radiomics effectively distinguishes Alzheimer's disease (AD) from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and predicts MCI‐to‐AD progression risk. After integration with clinical features, the model exhibits strong predictive performance. The CP radiomics features correlate significantly with cognitive and

Gromov - Hausdorff Convergence and Topological Stability for Actions on Wasserstein Hyperspaces

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management
In this paper, we make use of topological stability from Gromov – Hausdorff view point to establish the Gromov – Hausdorff convergence and stability of induced actions on Wasserstein hyperspaces between maps.

Moving Object Tracking via Hausdorff Distance and Particle Filter

open access: yes, 2005
Moving object tracking is widely applied in computer vision. A novel method for moving object tracking, which utilizes particle filter and Hausdorff distance is proposed in this paper.

Rapid changes of the lava‐delta coastlines formed by the 2021 volcanic eruption on La Palma, Canary Islands

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 6, June 2026.
A new coastline formed during the 2021 eruption of La Palma quickly eroded, becoming crenellated and with pocket beaches, then retreated more gradually as resistant interiors of the lava were exposed. In contrast, a second thicker lava delta changed more gradually, highlighting the importance of lithology to coastal erosion.
