Fixed point theorems of enriched multivalued mappings via sequentially equivalent Hausdorff metric

open access: yesTopological Algebra and its Applications, 2023
Recently, Abbas et al. [Enriched multivalued contractions with applications to differential inclusions and dynamic programming, Symmetry 13(8) (2021), 1350] obtained an interesting generalization of the Nadler fixed point theorem by introducing the ...

The Wire Is Not the Territory: Understanding Representational Drift in Olfaction With Dynamical Systems Theory

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Representational drift is a phenomenon of increasing interest in the cognitive and neural sciences. While investigations are ongoing for other sensory cortices, recent research has demonstrated the pervasiveness in which it occurs in the piriform cortex for olfaction.

The Role of Shape Commensurability in Chirality Transfer: Gold Nanoshape Solutes in a Discotic Nematic Liquid Crystal Solvent

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report on a suitable approach to predict the chirality “strength” and efficacy of chirality transfer from chiral nanoshape solutes to an achiral discotic nematic (ND) liquid crystal solvent. Highly efficacious chirality transfer based on shape commensurability between nanoshape solute (in the form of gold nanodiscs, GNDs) and a ND solvent was ...

MORPHOLOGICAL SAMPLING OF CLOSED SETS

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2011
We briefiy survey the standard morphological approach (Heijmans, 1994) to the sampling (or discretization) of sets. Then we summarize the main results of our metric theory of sampling (Ronse and Tajine, 2000; 2001; 2002; Tajine and Ronse, 2002), which ...

Abduction and Deduction in Dynamical Cognitive Science

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract This paper reviews the recent history of a subset of research in dynamical cognitive science, in particular that subset that allies itself with the sciences of complexity and casts cognitive systems as interaction dominant, noncomputational, and nonmodular. I look at this history in the light of C.S.

$k$-Median clustering under discrete Fréchet and Hausdorff distances

open access: yesJournal of Computational Geometry, 2022
We give the first near-linear time (1+ε)-approximation algorithms for k-median clustering of polygonal trajectories under the discrete Fréchet distance, and finite point sets under the Hausdorff distance, provided the complexity of each cluster center ...

Limits of Manifolds in the Gromov–Hausdorff Metric Space

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Mathematics, 2022
We apply the Gromov-Hausdorff metric $d_G$ for characterization of certain generalized manifolds. Previously, we have proved that with respect to the metric $d_G,$ generalized $n$-manifolds are limits of spaces which are obtained by gluing two topological $n$-manifolds by a controlled homotopy equivalence (the so-called $2$-patch spaces).

On the hyperspace of bounded closed sets under a generalized Hausdorff stationary fuzzy metric [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
summary:In this paper, we generalize the classical Hausdorff metric with t-norms and obtain its basic properties. Furthermore, for a given stationary fuzzy metric space with a t-norm without zero divisors, we propose a method for constructing a ...

ON THE STABILITY OF NONLINEAR CONSERVATION LAWS IN THE HAUSDORFF METRIC [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hyperbolic Differential Equations, 2005
The mapping properties of the time evolution operator E(t) of nonlinear hyperbolic scalar conservation laws is investigated. It is shown that this operator is Lipschitz in the Hausdorff metric in one space dimension whenever the flux is convex and one of the initial conditions satisfies a one-sided Lipschitz condition.
