A new family of decreasing density and hazard quantile functions for modeling time-to-event data

International Journal of Modeling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing, 2022
In this paper, a convenient and parsimonious family of the quantile functions is proposed for modeling time-to-event data. Detailed mathematical arguments are presented for deriving the explicit expressions of the quantile density, quantile hazard and quantile mean remaining life functions. Their functional properties are also explored.

A Class of Distributions with Quadratic Hazard Quantile Function

Journal of the Indian Society for Probability and Statistics, 2020
The present paper introduces a class of distributions with quadratic hazard quantile function. We study various distributional properties and reliability characteristics of the proposed model. The proposed class of distributions aims to represent the non-monotone behaviours of hazard quantile function.

Proportional hazards model with quantile functions

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2018
ABSTRACTProportional Hazards Model (PHM) introduced by Cox (1972) is extensively studied in literature. In this paper, we study reliability properties of the PHM using quantile functions. Some special properties of the quantile function, which are not shared by distribution function are explored to study various properties of the PHM. We discuss ageing

Confidence regions for the quantile function in the Cox proportional hazards model

Journal of Nonparametric Statistics, 2006
Let F(t|x) be the distribution function of the life time of a unit with covariate x in the Cox proportional hazard model. Let ξ(p, x) be the pth quantile of F(·|x). We consider the problem of constructing confidence bands/regions for ξ (·,·). We develop the asymptotic theory for the proposed bands.

Some Properties of Proportional Reversed Hazards Model Based on Quantile Functions

International Journal of Reliability, Quality and Safety Engineering, 2019
In this paper, we study some reliability aspects of proportional reversed hazards model (PRHM) using quantile functions and derive certain characteristic properties. A quantile-based relevation transform for past lifetime random variable is introduced.

Nonmonotone Hazard Quantile Functions

2013
The existence of nonmonotonic hazard rates was recognized from the study of human mortality three centuries ago. Among such hazard rates, ones with bathtub or upside-down bathtub shape have received considerable attention during the last five decades. Several models have been suggested to represent lifetimes possessing bathtub-shaped hazard rates.

Exact Inference for Laplace Quantile, Reliability, and Cumulative Hazard Functions Based on Type-II Censored Data

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 2016
In this paper, we first present explicit expressions for the maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of the location, and scale parameters of the Laplace distribution based on a Type-II right censored sample under different cases. Then, after giving the exact density functions of the MLEs, and the expectations, we derive the exact density of the MLE of the
