AbstractHazard rate processes are discussed in the context of doubly stochastic Poisson processes. We derive an explicit expression for the reliability function corresponding to an increasing hazard rate processes with independent increments. Also, bounds are obtained for the reliability function of a system with a general hazard rate process.

Beta Hazard Rate Distribution and Applications
IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 2015We introduce a new finite range life distribution with a hazard rate function of the form of a nonstandard beta density function. The hazard rate function is either increasing, or has a bathtub shape with a long flat middle interval. The proposed model has a simple structure.

A random change of time scale transforms the empirical process into a Poisson process which enables us to derive large deviation approximations to the significance level of the likelihood ratio test.

A General Model for the Hazard Rate with Covariables
Biometrics, 1979with the coeffiicients of the various powers of time being possibly diffierent functions of the vector of covariables. Methods for fitting the model to data and testing hypotheses about model parameters are presented. The degree of the polynomial for the hazard is chosen in a step-wise manner as part of thefitting of the model.
