Lightness constancy: from haze illusion to haze removal
Chinese Optics Letters, 2012The human visual system processes lightness constancy to estimate reflectance under complex viewing conditions. We focus on the underlying reason the human visual system is conscious of haze, and discuss the single-image haze-removal problem based on lightness constancy from the beginning of haze illusion.

Fast and efficient haze removal
2015 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE), 2015This paper presents a fast and efficient method to remove the haze from a single image. The proposed method employs the maximum filter to reduce the artifacts arising in the transmission estimation, which can simplify the transmission refinement process without sacrificing the quality of the results.

Recent advancement in haze removal approaches
Multimedia Systems, 2021Haze and fog are big reasons for road accidents. The haze occurrence in the air lowers the images quality captured by visible camera sensors. Haze brings inconvenience to numerous computer vision applications as it diminishes the scene visibility. Haze removal techniques recuperate the color and scene contrast.

Haze removal on superpixel domain
2013 10th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots and Ambient Intelligence (URAI), 2013Haze and fog cause poor visibility for vision sensor, and make computer vision problems challenging. In this paper, we propose a new de-hazing method for single image on super-pixel domain. One of widely used approaches for de-hazing is to introduce dark channel prior.

Haze removal for image enhancement
SPIE Proceedings, 2005We present a method to improve the quality of hazy digital images for digital photography applications. Most of the methods for haze removal that have been reported in the literature require either multiple images of the scene or auxiliary information, and are thus not suitable for digital photography applications.

Single image haze removal using dark channel prior
2009 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2009In this paper, we propose a simple but effective image prior-dark channel prior to remove haze from a single input image. The dark channel prior is a kind of statistics of outdoor haze-free images. It is based on a key observation-most local patches in outdoor haze-free images contain some pixels whose intensity is very low in at least one color ...

Haze removal from a single image
SPIE Proceedings, 2013A procedure for haze detection and removal from a single image using dark channel and fast bilateral filter has been developed. It involves the analysis of the statistics of the haze images. The dark channel prior with the haze imaging model is used to estimate the parameters of the haze and recover a high quality haze-free image.

A RETINEX based haze removal method
2012 IEEE 7th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS), 2012One of the most interesting problems in recent times in image processing and computer vision is fog, haze and rain removal from images. In this paper we shall consider the problem of haze removal. One of the latest haze removal algorithms proposed by Kaiming et al. [1] uses a dark channel prior based approach for haze removal.

Image Haze Removal By Adaptive CycleGAN
2019 Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA ASC), 2019We introduce our machine-learning method to remove the fog and haze in image. Our model is based on CycleGAN, an ingenious image-to-image translation model, which can be applied to de-hazing task. The datasets that we used for training and testing are creatd according to the atmospheric scattering model.

Haze Removal Using Generative Adversarial Network
2021The problem of haze removal has been addressed in many computer vision researches. Haze removal is the process of eliminating the degradation present in hazy images and getting the clearer counterpart. The presence of haze distorts the image, and as a result, it will be difficult to apply various image processing techniques on such images.
