A Driller's HAZOP Method

European Petroleum Conference, 1986
ABSTRACT A method has been developed for performing Hazard and Operability studies of drilling systems and procedures. The need for such a technique is explained and its development and application are described. Although the Drillers' HAZOP uses the same basic method as the traditional "process" HAZOP, novel features have been ...

Risk Assessment in HAZOPs

SPE E&P Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Conference-Americas, 2015
Abstract A HAZOP is a team-based process hazard analysis (PHA) method. Its purpose is to identify hazards and operability issues in a process design. In some HAZOPs, identified issues are evaluated for risk. An effective risk assessment method allows the HAZOP participants and the project team to focus their time and energy on the more ...

Comparison of Traditional HAZOP and WHIPP

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2016
A hazard and operability study (HAZOP) is a structured and systematic examination of a planned or existing process or operation in order to find and evaluate problems that may represent risks to personnel or equipment, or prevent efficient operation.

HAZOP - an automaton-inspired approach

2012
Abstract If there exists a gradient pointing outwards a save-operation region, then there exists a possible path for the plant to cross out of the save-operation region. A method is introduced that allows the identification of such surface pieces in the phase space of the state variable for the analysed equipment.

AI-assisted HAZOP - Can prompt engineering deliver a credible HAZOP assessment

AI and Safety Critical Systems
As interest in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to safety engineering grows, practical questions remain about its reliability and rigour. This research explores the use of advanced prompt engineering techniques to automate hazard and operability (HAZOP) analysis to refine the output of a large language model (LLM).
