Macromolecular Dynamics in Red Blood Cells Investigated Using Neutron Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesJ. R. Soc. Interface 6 April 2011 vol. 8 no. 57 590-600, 2011
We present neutron scattering measurements on the dynamics of hemoglobin (Hb) in human red blood cells in vivo. Global and internal Hb dynamics were measured in the ps to ns time- and {\AA} length-scale using quasielastic neutron backscattering spectroscopy. We observed the cross-over from global Hb short-time to long-time self-diffusion.

Harmonic Beltrami Signature: A Novel 2D Shape Representation for Object Classification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
There is a growing interest in shape analysis in recent years. We present a novel shape signature for 2D bounded simply-connected domains, named the Harmonic Beltrami signature (HBS). The proposed signature is based on the harmonic extension of the conformal welding map of a unit circle and its Beltrami coefficient.

Star Counts in the Globular Cluster Omega Centauri. I. Bright Stellar Components [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J.663:1021-1039,2007, 2007
We present an extensive photometry on HB, RGB, and MSTO stars in Omega Cen. The central regions of the cluster were covered with a mosaic of F435W, F625W, and F658N-band data collected with ACS/HST. The outer reaches were covered with a large set of U,B,V,I-band data collected with the WFI@2.2m ESO/MPI telescope.

Metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease and excessive alcohol consumption are both independent risk factors for mortality

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Visualisation of the study desgin, main results and key findings. Abstract Background and Aims MAFLD often cooccurs with excessive alcohol consumption, while its prognostic value in this group remains unclear. We aimed to study the mortality risk of MAFLD in relation to excessive alcohol consumption and its potential interactions.

Comparison of the extended linear sigma model and chiral perturbation theory [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. C72 (2005) 038201, 2005
The pion-nucleon scattering amplitudes are calculated in tree approximation with the use of the extended linear sigma model (ELSM) as well as heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HB$\chi$PT), and the non-relativistic forms of the ELSM results are compared with those of HB$\chi$PT. We find that the amplitudes obtained in ELSM do not agree with those

Polyphosphorus Ligand Complexes of Coinage Metals for Multiple Capturing of Intact P4 Tetrahedra

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Self‐assembly reactions of [CpRFe(η5‐P5)] (CpR = C5(CH3)5 and C5(4‐EtC6H4)5) with coinage metal salts and white phosphorus afforded an unprecedented novel class of mixed polyphosphorus ligand complexes in which metal ions multiply coordinate intact P4 tetrahedra.
