Abstract α‐Chiral amines are versatile building blocks for the asymmetric synthesis of optically pure high‐added‐value chemicals, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and natural products. Herein, we report a one‐pot, two‐step sequential deracemization of racemic sec‐alcohols to optically enriched primary amines throught a photo‐biocatalytic ...

The Age Dependent Luminosities of the Red Giant Branch Bump, Asymptotic Giant Branch Bump, and Horizontal Branch Red Clump [PDF]
Color-magnitude diagrams of globular clusters often exhibit a prominent horizontal branch (HB) and may also show features such as the red giant branch (RGB) bump and the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) bump. Stellar evolution theory predicts that the luminosities of these features will depend on the metallicity and age of the cluster.

Solid State Defect Emitters With no Electrical Activity
Point defects may introduce in‐gap states that alter electrical properties and lower the optical excitation threshold. It is thus widely assumed that solid‐state defect emitters alter the host conductivity. This study demonstrates, on a particular defect in 4H silicon carbide, that a yet unrecognized class of point defects exists that are optically ...

FeMn(NbTa)2O6‐columbite is a sustainable and high‐performance bifunctional electrocatalyst for anion exchange membrane water electrolyzers, comparable to benchmark catalysts. In situ XAS and DFT analysis show Fe/Mn sites exhibit higher OER activity due to reduced overpotentials and favorable O→OOH energetics. The Nb/Ta sites facilitate charge transfer,

Efficient C─C coupling hydrobenzoin production and tunable syngas generation via benzyl alcohol oxidation and CO2 reduction is realized by Ni2P/CdS composite in a single photoredox cycle. In situ and ex situ characterizations, along with theoretical calculations, reveal that the active site optimization facilitates intermediate formation and desorption.

Radial velocity monitoring of Kepler heartbeat stars [PDF]
Heartbeat stars (HB stars) are a class of eccentric binary stars with close periastron passages. The characteristic photometric HB signal evident in their light curves is produced by a combination of tidal distortion, heating, and Doppler boosting near orbital periastron.
