Predicting human decisions with behavioral theories and machine learning

open access: yes, 2019
Behavioral decision theories aim to explain human behavior. Can they help predict it? An open tournament for prediction of human choices in fundamental economic decision tasks is presented.

Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Ferrous Iron in a True Square‐Planar Molecular Environment

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
The electronic and magnetic properties of ferrous iron in the substituted iron phthalocyanine, FePcOAr, exhibiting a true square‐planar molecular environment, are investigated. Inhibition of intermolecular interactions by steric substituents, allows detailed investigation of the electronic structure arising from the planar geometry of the d6 electron ...

Electrocatalytic CN Coupling: Advances in Urea Synthesis and Opportunities for Alternative Products

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
This review explores electrocatalytic urea synthesis via carbon–nitrogen (CN) coupling from CO2 and nitrogen species, specifically nitrate, nitrite, nitric oxide, and nitrogen gas. It discusses recent discoveries in catalyst design, reaction pathways, and detection methods. Future outlooks on industrial applications, alternative CN coupling products,

Representations of the ultrahyperbolic BMS group HB.II. Determination of the representations induced from infinite little groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The ordinary Bondi-Metzner-Sachs (BMS) group B is the common asymptotic symmetry group of all asymptotically flat Lorentzian space-times. As such, B is the best candidate for the universal symmetry group of General Relativity. However, in studying quantum gravity, space-times with signatures other than the usual Lorentzian one, and complex space-times,

Rockburst prediction based on data preprocessing and hyperband‐RNN‐DNN

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A data preprocessing workflow is proposed to address challenges in rockburst data analysis. Coupled algorithms preprocess the data set, and hyperband optimization is used to enhance RNN performance. Results show that preprocessing improves accuracy, while dense layers enhance model stability and prediction performance.

Gut microbiota‐related modulation of immune mechanisms in post‐infarction remodelling and heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 942-954, April 2025.
Abstract The immune system has long been recognized as a key driver in the progression of heart failure (HF). However, clinical trials targeting immune effectors have consistently failed to improve patient outcome across different HF aetiologies. The activation of the immune system in HF is complex, involving a broad network of pro‐inflammatory and ...

Constraints on widths of mixed pentaquark multiplets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
We determine constraints on the partial widths of mixed pentaquark multiplets in the framework of heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory (HB$\chi$PT). The partial widths satisfy a GMO-type relation at leading order in HB$\chi$PT, for arbitrary mixing. The widths of N(1440), N(1710), and $\Theta(1540)$ are not consistent with ideal mixing, $\theta_{N} =

Meta‐analysis of sotagliflozin, a dual sodium‐glucose‐cotransporter 1/2 inhibitor, for heart failure in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 968-979, April 2025.
Abstract Sodium‐glucose co‐transporters (SGLTs) mediate sodium and glucose transport across cell membranes. SGLT2 inhibitors have a recognized place within heart failure (HF) guidelines. We evaluated the effect of sotagliflozin on HF and cardiovascular outcomes in participants with type 2 diabetes. Scopus, Medline, Embase and Central were searched from

Equality, Equity and Incentives: An Experiment [PDF]

open access: yes
We devise a new experimental game by nesting a voluntary contributions mechanism in a broader spectrum of incentive schemes. With it, we study tensions between egalitarianism, equity concerns, self-interest, and the need for incentives.
