HBsAg subtype distribution among different populations of HBsAg carriers in Spain
European Journal of Epidemiology, 1995Data concerning the HBsAg subtype distribution in Spain are out-of-date and confined to a restricted geographical area. Furthermore, the complex distribution observed in the countries surrounding Spain prevents any prediction. To obtain further data on HBsAg subtype distribution among Spanish HBsAg carriers, subtyping analysis (d and y determinants ...

HBsAg screening is carried out routinely to detect hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The immunoassays used employ capture antibodies often having specificity for epitopes present on the antigenic (a) determinant of the HBsAg. Loss of detection may occur due to mutations within and/or outside of the a determinant that affect conformational epitope ...

International Standards or commercial panels used for performance validation of diagnostic kits might not reflect the viral characteristics common in Korea. Also, continuous use of these materials is difficult because of limited quantity and high cost.Establishment of HBsAg reference materials to be used as National Standards for validation of HBsAg ...

Subspecificity determination of HBsAg by radioimmunoassay
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1987A radioimmunoassay method for subtyping hepatitus B surface antigen (HBsAg) was developed. Polystyrene beads pretreated with glutaraldehyde and coated with monospecific anti-d or anti-y antibodies were used. The treatment of beads with glutaraldehyde significantly increased the sensitivity of the test.

HLA Antigens in HBsAg Infection
Vox Sanguinis, 1979Abstract. The HLA typing of hemodialysis patients and normal subjects suggests a negative association of B8 and positive association of B5 with the development of anti‐HBs and a negative association of BW35 with HBsAg antigenemia.

The Development of HBsAg-Positive Hepatitis Despite the Previous Existence of Antibody to HBsAg
The Journal of Immunology, 1976Summary A dentist developed acute, icteric HBsAg-positive hepatitis despite the prior existence of anti-HBs. Evaluation of this antibody showed it to have a restricted specificity reacting with only one subdeterminant (α1) of the hepatitis B surface antigen. The anti-HBs/α1 coexisted with HBsAg of subtype ayw in the acute phase hepatitis
