Clinics in Liver Disease, 2009
Primary liver cancer is the fifth most common malignancy worldwide and the third leading cause of cancer mortality. NAFLD-related HCC

2021
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the major drivers for the rising trend in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Over the past three decades, the incidence of both NAFLD and HCC have increased two- to threefold. It has been forecasted that the number of patients with NAFLD in the Unites States will reach 101 million by 2030; global increase

HCC in Older Patients

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2010
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a heterogeneous disease, with many poorly-defined prognostic patient subsets. Identification of discrete subsets will aid rational patient and treatment selection.A database with 778 biopsy-proven, unresectable and untransplantable HCC patients who were followed from diagnosis till death was interrogated.

HCC-Screening

Der Radiologe, 2007
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most frequently diagnosed tumour diseases throughout the world. Oncotherapies for HCC

2018
The majority of patients with hepatocellular cancer (HCC) present with advanced disease requiring palliative interventions. The approval of sorafenib in 2007 was a breakthrough in the treatment of advanced disease, and it has remained the standard first-line therapy for the past 10 years.

Pathophysiology of HCC

2014
Histopathological features that lead to the initiation and progression of HCC are poorly understood. Tissue microenvironment plays a major role in this process. Interaction of a variety of cell types in the tumor stroma with extracellular matrix components lead to the acquisition of an abnormal phenotype that promotes tumor formation.

FIBRONECTIN IN HUMAN HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA (HCC) and HCC CELL LINES

Acta Pathologica Japonica, 1987
The localization of fibronectin (FN) in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was studied in thirty‐six HCC tumors (19 autopsy and 17 surgical specimens), two xenografted tumors of HCC to BALB/c mice and three HCC cell lines. The synthesis of FN was also examined in three HCC cell lines. FN was demonstrated on the endothelial surface of the blood spaces

Small HCCs Identified by Screening

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2011
Survival in HCC depends on diagnosis at early tumor stage, best achieved through surveillance radiology. There is also a need for complementary serum tests. We evaluated baseline liver function parameters from a cohort of 231 HCC patients who were diagnosed by surveillance.

Correlation between SonoVue Enhancement in CEUS, HCC Differentiation and HCC Diameter: Analysis of 130 Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)

Ultraschall in der Medizin - European Journal of Ultrasound, 2009
The aim of the study was to characterize SonoVue enhancement in hepatocellular carcinoma in correlation to both lesion diameter and histological differentiation of the lesion. In a prospective study 130 patients (72 male, 58 female, 62 +/- 10 years) with HCC lesions detected by B-mode sonography were examined.
