Integration of the EU HCPB Test Blanket Module system in ITER

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2006
The integration of the HCPB Test Blanket Module (TBM) systems into ITER has been investigated with the aim to check the compatibility between the considered systems and ITER. In particular the requirement of a simple and quick TBM replacement is considered in this paper.

The first HEBLO experiments based on the EU HCPB blanket concept

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2001
The out-of-pile HEBLO experiments for thermomechanical loads on a small-scale test section based on the EU HCPB blanket concept were planned and realized. The first experiment series under steady-state conditions was accomplished successfully. The results of 2D simulation calculations show good agreements between calculated and measured temperatures ...

Activation analysis for the HCPB blanket module in the European DEMO

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2017
Abstract The activity and decay heat inventories were assessed for the HCPB DEMO blankets making use of a code system that enables performing 3D activation calculations by linking the Monte Carlo transport code MCNP and the fusion inventory code FISPACT through an appropriate interface.

Preliminary structural analysis of the new HCPB blanket for EU DEMO reactor

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2016
Abstract Currently the HCPB blanket concept is one of the four breeding blankets concepts under development for the European DEMO. This work reports on the results of an investigation of the thermal and structural performances of a new design of this blanket, proposed in 2015 by the KIT HCPB Team aimed at establishing a baseline design of the HCPB ...

Lifetime performance analysis of HCPB power plant in-vessel components using HERCULES

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2008
Abstract The PPCS plant models explore a range of physics and technology assumptions spanning from near-term, ITER-like assumptions to very advanced scenarios. Plant model B (PMB) employs a helium-cooled, pebble bed (HCPB) blanket concept. Creep, both thermal and irradiation, is the primary limiting mechanism for in-vessel component lifetime, with ...
