Transforming Grain‐Boundary Brittle Precipitates to Ductility Pathways in Complex Concentrated Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By engineering graded BCC/L12 interfaces, brittle precipitates in a complex concentrated alloy enable sequential deformation, realizing gigapascal strength with >20% elongation to solve the strength‐ductility trade‐off. ABSTRACT Conventional wisdom holds that hard grain‐boundary (GB) precipitates embrittle structural alloys by acting as crack ...

Benefits of Categorizing Noncovalent Bonds Based on Hydrogen, Halogen, Chalcogen, and Pnictogen Bonds

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A terminology for electrophile‐nucleophile interactions based on names that refer to the electrophile group/atom may offer the advantage to be descriptive, consistent, complete, systematic, clear, and, most important, invariant. Likely, a terminology that employs only the terms σ‐hole bond, π‐hole bond, and p‐hole bond may not.

Outstanding 1200 °C Oxidation Resistance in a Novel Multi‐Principal Element Alloy via Lattice Distortion‐Induced Diffusion Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The unique lamellar structure of the eutectic alloy promotes selective oxidation of Al initially, while lattice distortion‐induced diffusion suppression slows oxide growth during steady state. Combining these strategies, a Multi‐Principal Element Alloy with excellent oxidation resistance at 1200℃ was designed.

Smoking cessation counseling practices in Jordan: Using the trans-theoretical model.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
The trans-theoretical model of behavior change (TTM) is widely used to assess an individual's readiness to perform the new behavior and categorizes the behavior change into five stages: "pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and ...

“And All These Prejudices That Exist, I Think I Also Fall For That” Healthcare Providers’ Perceptions of Interacting With Patients in a Low Socioeconomic Position

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Health Communication (EJHC)
Communication between healthcare providers (HCPs) and patients in a low socioeconomic position (SEP) is challenging, partly because an adequate communication style requires HCPs to recognise patients’ skills and needs, perceptions that can be subject to

Healthcare professionals’ knowledge, attitude and acceptance of influenza vaccination in Saudi Arabia: a multicenter cross-sectional study

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research, 2019
Background All healthcare professionals (HCPs) are at high risk of influenza infection. Therefore, immunization is recommended for all HCPs. Due to safety and effectiveness concerns, HCPs have a low vaccination rate.

Deformation‐Induced Formation of Stray Grains in Additive Manufacturing of Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stray grain formation severely limits the additive manufacturing of single‐crystal alloys. By integrating in situ synchrotron techniques, ex situ characterization, and multi‐scale multi‐physics modeling, the authors reveal that stray grains originate from dislocations at the solid‐liquid interface, rather than thermal supercooling in conventional ...

FeCoNiCuPt High‐Entropy Alloy Boosts Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production on Protonated Graphitic Carbon Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, FeCoNiCuPt high‐entropy alloy particles (HEA) are loaded onto protonated g‐C3N4 nanosheets (HCN NSs) to construct HEA/HCN composites through an electrostatic self‐assembly method. Protonation treatment enriches the surface of g‐C3N4 nanosheets with abundant active sites and enhances their interfacial charge separation capability ...
