Overcoming the strength-ductility trade-off in metastable dual-phase heterogeneous structures using variable temperature rolling and annealing [PDF]
A novel variable temperature rolling (VTR) and annealing process was conducted on a metastable austenitic stainless steel. Strain softening occurred during tensile straining in both cold rolled and cryogenic rolled-annealed steels, leading to low uniform

Superior strength–ductility combination in Al alloys via dislocation gradient structure
The precipitation hardening is widely applied to strengthen Al alloys. Here, we report an alternative way to achieve high-strength Al alloys via forming the dislocation gradient through pre-torsion.

Hierarchical microstructure enables high strength and good ductility in as-cast Fe27Ni35Cr18.25Al13.75Co2Ti2Mo2 high-entropy alloy [PDF]
As-cast alloys often require complex thermomechanical processing to obtain a hierarchical structure to achieve a good combination of strength and ductility.

Spontaneously aligned, long‐range hexagonal columnar ordering is obtained in phase‐separated dynamic covalent networks by combining discrete siloxanes and dynamic acylsemicarbazide bonds. The ordered network shows improved (thermo)mechanical properties and creep resistance compared to the disordered network.

Caging Polyhalide Anions in Polycyclodextrin for Long‐Lasting Aqueous Zinc‐Iodine Batteries
We demonstrated poly(β‐cyclodextrin) gel as an ideal host material that effectively contains and releases polyhalide anions in aqueous zinc‐iodine batteries. Such a unique host‐guest chemistry prevents the shuttle effect of polyhalides. The corresponding batteries can operate via both 2e and 4e storage, attaining 60,000 cycles with more than 99% and 85%
