Tunicate‐Inspired Carboxymethyl Cellulose Hydrogel Filler for Treating Age‐Associated Vocal Fold Atrophy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The pyrogallol‐conjugated carboxymethylcellulose (CMC‐PG) hydrogel is applicated as a filler for the treatment of presbylaryngis, a vocal fold atrophy. CMC‐PG provides a bulking effect to the vocal folds. CMC‐PG is readily injectable and tissue adhesive, enabling sustained release of growth factor over long period.

An Ultra‐Flexible Neural Electrode with Bioelectromechanical Compatibility and Brain Micromotion Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Neural electrodes face a mechanical mismatch with brain tissue. This study proposes a bioelectromechanical coupling strategy using an ultra‐flexible electrode designed for synchronized motion. Optimized to match brain tissue stiffness, it achieves dual signal acquisition and micromotion sensing, with characterized interfacial forces and piezoresistive ...

Postural tachycardia during head-up tilt test predicts persistent orthostatic intolerance in young adults

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2013
Background: Head-up tilt (HUT) test is an important tool in establishing the cause of past syncope. As postural tachycardia is associated with orthostatic intolerance, we hypothesise that heart rate (HR) increase during the early phase of HUT can be used

3D Printing of Bacteriophage‐Loaded Hydrogels: Development of a Local and Long‐Lasting Delivery System

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This research investigates the feasibility of 3D‐printing of a bacteriophage‐containing hydrogel made of alginate and methylcellulose. The printed hydrogels steadily release active bacteriophages for up to 35 days which is beneficial to treat implant‐associated infections.

Perception of the Body in Space: Mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes
The principal topic is the perception of body orientation and motion in space and the extent to which these perceptual abstraction can be related directly to the knowledge of sensory mechanisms, particularly for the vestibular apparatus.
