Molecular imaging predicts trastuzumab‐deruxtecan (T‐DXd) response in head and neck cancer xenograft models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Trastuzumab‐deruxtecan, a HER2‐targeting antibody‐drug conjugate, shows promising antitumor activity in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma with low HER2 expression. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated dose‐dependent cell death and tumor growth reduction in low HER2‐expressing cell lines, which correlated with drug accumulation measured using a

Stage T4B head and neck cancer survival outcome comparisons based on treatment modality: is surgery a viable treatment option? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
IMPORTANCE: Advanced stage head and neck cancers are often deemed unresectable due to the aggressive nature of the cancer. In evaluating survival patterns of patients with stage IVb tumors, it is valuable to determine whether patients who undergo ...

The subcellular distribution of phosphorylated Y‐box‐binding protein‐1 at S102 in colorectal cancer patients, stratified by KRAS mutational status and clinicopathological features

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies nuclear YB‐1 S102 phosphorylation as a marker associated with KRAS and FBXW7 mutations in colorectal cancer. Mutated KRAS correlates specifically with nuclear, not cytoplasmic, S102 YB‐1. These findings provide the first ex vivo evidence of this link in CRC and suggest future studies should assess the prognostic and therapeutic ...

Metachronous immune-related adverse events involving type 1 diabetes and isolated adrenocorticotropic hormone deficiency associated with pembrolizumab monotherapy for metastatic head and neck cancer: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2023
Background Immune checkpoint inhibitors might cause immune-related adverse events that are still largely unknown. Case presentation An 80-year-old Asian female was diagnosed with cervical lymph node metastasis from lip cancer (cT1N0M0) and underwent ...

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

ITGAV and SMAD4 influence the progression and clinical outcome of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In SMAD4‐positive pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), integrin subunit alpha V (ITGAV) activates latent TGF‐β, which binds to the TGF‐β receptor and phosphorylates SMAD2/3. The activated SMAD2/3 forms a complex with SMAD4, and together they translocate to the nucleus, modulating gene expression to promote proliferation, migration, and invasion. In

IL-13 May Could Enhance the Proliferation and Affect the Differentiation of Nasal Epithelium Basal Cells Through the mTOR/p70S6K1 Pathway in Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation
Conclusion: IL-13 may affect the proliferation and differentiation of nasal epithelial progenitor/stem cells through the mTOR/p70S6K1 pathway, which may affect the development of nasal polyps.
