AIRWAY MANAGEMENT IN HEAD AND NECK CANCER SURGERY

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 2020
The anesthetic plan must be discussed and personalized for each patient. The anesthesiologist must identify and find solutions for the main perioperative issues which may occur due to this type of surgery.

Effects of BNO 1016 on ciliary transport velocity and cell culture surface liquid height of sinonasal epithelial cultures

open access: yesClinical Phytoscience, 2021
Background BNO 1016 is an ethanolic extract of a mixture of five herbs that has been sold in different formulations for decades in the European market and more recently, in the United States market as an over-the-counter treatment for rhinosinusitis ...

Understanding and measuring mechanical signals in the tumor stroma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review discusses cancer‐associated fibroblast subtypes and their functions, particularly in relation to extracellular matrix production, as well as the development of 3D models to study tumor stroma mechanics in vitro. Several quantitative techniques to measure tissue mechanical properties are also described, to emphasize the diagnostic and ...

Long non‐coding RNAs as therapeutic targets in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and clinical application

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

The Role of Small Extracellular Vesicles and MicroRNAs in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Allergic Rhinitis and Nasal Polyps

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2022
Allergic rhinitis and nasal polyps are common otorhinolaryngological diseases. Small extracellular vesicles and microRNAs have recently become major research topics of interest due to their key regulatory roles in cancer, inflammation, and various ...

Knockout of the mitoribosome rescue factors Ict1 or Mtrfr is viable in zebrafish but not mice: compensatory mechanisms underlying each factor's loss

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.

Protective Effects of Vitamin C against Neomycin-Induced Apoptosis in HEI-OC1 Auditory Cell

open access: yesNeural Plasticity, 2022
Ototoxic hearing loss results from hair cell death via reactive oxygen species (ROS) overproduction and consequent apoptosis. We investigated the effects of vitamin C (VC) on neomycin-induced HEI-OC1 cell damage, as well as the mechanism of inhibition ...

Matrix: a complex amalgam of structures and functions in tumor microenvironment

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The matrix is a dynamic, intricate three‐dimensional mesh of biomolecules with both structural and functional properties. This review deals with the complexity of this ‘molecular amalgam’ in the tumor microenvironment and highlights its importance in the maintenance and evolution of tumors by describing certain matrix biomolecules, such as ...

lncRNA FR215775 Regulates Th2 Differentiation in Murine Allergic Rhinitis

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2022
To identify the effect of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) FR215775 in regulating CD4+ T cells on murine models of allergic rhinitis (AR), the expression of lncRNA FR215775 in primary Th2 cells was detected through qRT-PCR.

High LRIG1 expression predicts lymph node metastasis in patients with uterine cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Lymph node status is crucial in determining treatment for women with early‐stage cervical cancer. We demonstrate that high LRIG1 protein expression in primary tumors can predict lymph node metastases. Our findings support further investigation of LRIG1 as a biomarker to improve staging accuracy and guide treatment decisions in cervical cancer patients.
