Can local drain flow measurements be utilized to improve catchment scale modelling?

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology X
Tile drains constitute a shortcut from agricultural fields to surface water systems, significantly altering the transport pathways and fate of nitrate during transport. A correct representation of tile drainage flow is thus crucial for estimating nitrate

Inferring community assembly processes from mangrove species–area relationships

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
The increasing species–area relationship (SAR) is a nearly universal ecological law. But recent theory has predicted that in systems with low large‐scale diversity the law should be violated and the SAR should be nearly flat at intermediate scales, with species richness roughly constant at some value typically greater than one.

The long‐run educational benefits of high‐achieving classrooms

open access: yesJournal of Policy Analysis and Management, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper examines how placement in high‐achieving classrooms within high school impacts students’ short‐ and longer‐term academic outcomes. Our setting is a large and selective Chinese high school, where first‐year students are separated into high‐achieving and regular classrooms based on their performance on a standardized exam.

Rotomolded polypropylene‐ignimbrite composites: Giving a second life to mineral dust wastes

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Dust from local stone production transformed into a filler for rotomolded composites. Abstract The possibility of rotomolding polypropylene (PP) composites with high loadings of a silica‐based dust of ignimbrite, a byproduct of volcanic stone extraction is demonstrated.

Innovative Design‐for‐Recycling for Critical Material‐Free Interconnection of PV Modules

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
We offer a fully demountable module design, encompassing a double layer encapsulation and mechanical pressing of connectors on solar cell metallization interconnection. Optical and thermal simulations have been carried out and their results underlines this innovative module architecture's interest.
