Geology of the River-head District of the Tone River

open access: yesJournal of Geography (Chigaku Zasshi), 1955
As a member of the party investigating the head district of the Tone River, the writer surveyed the area between the Sudagai Dam to Mt. Otonedake along the valley of the mentioned river, as shown in the geological map. The geological formations developed along the valley are as follows in descending order :Mesozoic Okutone Group4.

Functional models from limited data: A parametric and multimodal approach to anatomy and 3D kinematics of feeding in basking sharks (Cetorhinus maximus)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Basking sharks, Cetorhinus maximus (Gunnerus, Brugden [Squalus maximus], Det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskabs Skrifter, 1765, vol. 3, pp. 33–49), feed by gaping their mouths and gill slits, greatly reorienting their cranial skeletons to filter food from water.

Automated collection of single species of microfossils using a deep learning–micromanipulator system

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science, 2020
For geochemical analysis such as stable isotope ratio, radiocarbon dating and minor element analysis for a single species of microfossils, a large number of specimens, is required. Collecting specimens one by one under a microscope requires enormous time

Functional anatomy, jaw mechanisms, and feeding behavior of Dunkleosteus terrelli (Placodermi, Arthrodira)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
A new musculoskeletal reconstruction and revision of the cranio‐mandibular anatomy of the Devonian arthrodire placoderm Dunkleosteus terrelli from a comparative and functional anatomical perspective. Dunkleosteus is a specialized arthrodire with many specializations for feeding on large vertebrates, and many of its features are part of broader ...

Study on the Reconstruction of Diversion Tunnel intoPressure Sudden Enlargement Release Tunnel

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2008
:High head ogee spillway is the most usual way for medium or low head hydropower stations to reconstruct the spillway tunnel. Due to the condition limitation of the topography and geology, some stations cannot employ in this way. A new way to reconstruct

Geochemistry of trace and rare earth elements of the productive intrusions in the Kuh-Kapout porphyry copper deposit, Urumieh–Dokhtar magmatic arc [PDF]

open access: yesپترولوژی
IntroductionThe Cenozoic Urumieh-Dokhtar magmatic arc has characteristics similar to those of Andean-type magmatic arcs. Various types of magmatism occurred in this arc including calc-alkaline and K-rich calc-alkaline magmatism and less of them alkaline ...

A detailed redescription of a skeletally immature ‘Redondasaurus’ suggests ontogenetic transformations in the taxon mirror phytosaurian morphological evolution

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The study of morphological evolution is fundamentally tied to ontogeny, yet studies of these heterochronic processes in the fossil record are rare. Fossils belonging to an ontogenetic series are difficult to assign to an ontogenetic stage due to inconsistent proxies for skeletal ages, challenging to taxonomically assign due to morphological ...

Identity of Squalius (Actinopterygii, Cyprinidae) from Istra Peninsula in Croatia (Adriatic Sea basin)

open access: yesZooKeys, 2010
A chub of previously ambiguous identity from the Boljunscica and Pazincica rivers (south-eastern Istra Peninsula) was studied and compared with geographically close Squalius squalus, Squalius zrmanja, and Squalius janae recently described from the ...
